Aided by the visual and creative direction of Yoni Lappin, who was taught by Saam Farahmand, Mura Masa‘s sonic depiction of youthful essence is visceral; a tinge of carelessness and seemingly unrelated body of songs on his album aim toward the use of that adjective. The minimalist album artwork and list of relatively young features aid in crafting that aforementioned “fresh”sound, delving into a sound and aesthetic that’s oftentimes set as a goal though never sees fruition.

Perhaps the only reason this could be said is the visuals that supported three of the songs on the final track listing; “Love$ick,” “1 Night,” and “What If I Go” all feature young faces in industrial backgrounds, and Yoni Lappin’s direction ostensibly consists of him recreating sects of an ordinary day in the life of British youth. Any clip from any of these visuals could very well occur at the same time, and on any day of the week. Often filmed in grainy textures to add to a makeshift and more visceral feel, the sonic accompaniment furthers the atmosphere.

There’s no air of direness to any of the situations portrayed in each video; Harmony Korine‘s Kids saw a three minute compression and went across the sea to England. Though Izzy Cofie‘s character in “Love$ick” glares depravation and depression in the face, it doesn’t stop him from kicking a ball around with his people and sharing smiles with them at the backend of the video.

Mura Masa’s – Alex Crossan’s – debut album adds to the air Yoni Lappin gallantly and succinctly depicted in the visuals. Brixton Hill collective 67 continue to make waves for 2017. First off, today sees the release of their latest project The Glorious Twelfth, which follows last year’s Let’s Lurk. Adding to that, they’re collecting some top notch features as well — Dimzy and LD recently joined Chip for his new track and visual for “Honestly” (taken from the forthcoming sequel to the classic League Of My Own) while the group also added unexpected flair to Mura Masa and Desiigner‘s collaboration “All Around The World.”

This is dope: J Hus hit single “Did You See” just got an interesting remix from none other than Mura Masa. While the track keeps with the fun, Afrobeat-esque vibe that Hus is known for, the Guernsey DJ adds in some of his signature, Summer Dancehall vibe, giving the track new life.

Both artists are currently winning in their own respects: J Hus is still flying high off the release of his official debut album Common Sense (of which the original version sits), while Mura Masa’s forthcoming self-titled release drops next month (led by the singles “Love$ick” and “All Around The World” with A$AP Rocky and Desiigner, respectively).

Next month, Guernsey artist-producer Mura Masa will liberate his new self-titled album, which to date has seen dope collaborations with A$AP Rocky (“Love$ick“) and Charli XCX (“1 Night”). Another surprising appearance: Brooklyn’s own Desiigner delivered an amazing performance on “All Around The World,” which now boasts a new visual for the masses to enjoy.

In the clip (a one-shot take courtesy of Yoni Lappin), Desiigner brings the usual, high-intensity awesomeness in the midst of cheerleaders, a car doing donuts and other random occurrences in a SoCal parking lot. It all matches the Summer-y vibe brought forth by the melodic track.

Desiigner refuses to be a one-hit wonder. Following the major music event that was “Panda,” the Brooklyn emcee has continued to release quality music, including “Zombie Walk,” “Tiimmy Turner” and — most recently — the relatively laid-back “Holy Ghost.”

Adding to his collaborations, Desiigner has now joined Guernsey DJ-producer Mura Masa for his new single “All Around The World,” a short-but-sweet Electro-Trap cut that’s hard not to smile and dance to. The track — which was premiered officially via BBC Radio 1 as MistaJam’s Hottest Record — shows a level of versatility for Desiigner, who slows things down (somewhat) for a melodic, R&B-style feel, a perfect match for Masa’s warm production…with that said, his notorious ab-libs are still very much present. The two artists also performed the track at this year’s Coachella Festival.

Check out “All Around The World” below, which will appear on Mura Masa’s forthcoming self-titled album (also featuring the A$AP Rocky-assisted “Love$ick” and “1 Night” with Charli XCX). As far as Desiigner, he’s since dropped off a couple of other tracks — “Up” (produced by Juicy J) and “Thank God I Got It.”

Yesterday, British electronic music producer

Mura Masa explains how the collaboration came about, when he noticed that Rocky was going to be in London for a couple of days. “Rocky was actually in London for a couple of days and I wanted to make him feel like I was taking the collaboration seriously, so I booked us into Abbey Road, Studio 2, and we met up there for a couple of hours and he did his thing. It was a hell of a good time hanging out in such a legendary space with him, very surreal. The track originally was about sex and how I was feeling after a particularly empty encounter with a friend told through a kind of twisted-pop, calypso, hip hop dance track. Rocky kind of ran with that and took it to this lovelorn, exotic place. He totally injected his energy into it.”
