1. How long have you been doing what you’re doing, and how did you get started in the first place?

“I’ve been making music for about 15 years and when I got started I had some older cousins who were into rapping and I thought it was cool and decided to share my talents.”

2. Who were the first influences on your music and style? 

“Being from the south it was natural to follow acts like Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Young Jeezy. Although there are many more, these were more frequent and appealing to me as an option aspiring artist.”
 
3. In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why? 

“I would say Drake due to his versatility, and his ability to stay relevant for so many years has propelled him into one of the smartest talents I’ve seen.”

4. Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?

“I guess I’ll leave that up to the fans to say, however I try my best to deliver what I think people will appreciate musically.”

5. Do you write your own lyrics? If yes, what do you think about artists who use ghost writers? 
“Yes, I write my own lyrics, but I also collaborate with my team at 11 Grooves, Pook Nado, Wise, and Carolina Bugs who are also apart of the label.”
6. If you could choose to work with some of today’s established artists or producers, to move your game to the top, with whom would you like to collaborate? 
 
“I would love to collaborate with Young Dolph, Lil Durk, Moneybagg, producers London On A Track, DJ Mustard. Man, so many talented artists to work with.”

7. Which latest songs, videos or mixtapes releases are currently available to your fans and where can they be heard or downloaded?

“Currently, “Bunkin’” is available on Spotify, Tidal , iTunes, YouTube, and pretty much all of the digital media outlets. We released a few other records that were just to put the word out.”

8. Which ingredient do you think is most essential in making your sound and style the way it is?

“My ingredient to making records is the southern influence to sound. Being from North Carolina I wanted to create records that kept that flavor, but also showcase my other unique writing abilities.”

9. Which emotion more than any other, currently dominates your music? Joy, sadness, anger or passion etc., and why?

“I would say my music plays more into street passion, but some records are speaking on our joys of life because in the streets you go through a lot and you face a lot of obstacles, but there are plenty of good moments.”

10. What aspect of the music making process excites you most, and what aspect discourages you the most?

“Writing, recording, meeting new people to collaborate with I would say excites me, the promotional part is difficult at times, but it doesn’t discourage me.”

11. How involved are you in the recording, producing, mastering, marketing, and other processes needed to make and sell your music, and do you outsource any part of these processes? 
“My label 11 Grooves handles all the aspects of supporting me as an artist. My brother Mitchell Montgomery, and our boy Lavae McClinnahan run the admin of the label and pick the admin staff. We all collaborate to pick the best people on projects based on their experience and loyalty to our movement.”

12. Do you think the advent of internet and all the new technology has helped your music and independent musicians in general, or do you think it just creates a mass of mediocre “copycats” who flood the web, making it difficult to distinguish yourself? 
“Technology is a great thing for artists. There are many avenues you can use to deliver your content to the public if you combine it with the proper marketing and promotion although it does create artists that tend to think if they sound like other artists they will become famous and that is not a good strategy.”
 
13. What in your opinion is the biggest barrier an artist like yourself, has to face and overcome, to gain any commercial success? 
“Being a new artist is difficult for anyone and the many ways to overcome barriers is through relationship building and focus. I like to focus on the positive even when being rejected. I am aware that not everyone will like my content, but many will; so I just try to focus on the good and learn from my mistakes moving forward.”
 
14. In closing, tell us something about any projects and ideas you have in store or are already working on as well as where people can find your music. 
 
“We are in the process of releasing my mixtape, Gastronaut, this summer and currently shooting the epic video for the single, “Bunkin’.” You can check out my stuff on all the streaming platforms.”
