Danny Brown has to be one of the best in Hip-Hop when it comes to visualizing his art. His last music video — for “Ain’t It Funny” — was directed by Jonah Hill and saw him as a drug addict uncle in an old-school family sitcom. This go round, he gets even darker: here lies a new clip for “Lost,” a flicker-y, black-and-white stream of dreamlike shots…an increasingly-paranoid Danny (seemingly) plays both the fiend and the dealer, cooking up the product (money?) in a cramped, festered apartment. Each viewer can probably find a different interpretation, to be fair.

[FAIR WARNING: Don’t eat anything before or during the viewing of this video.]

Check out “Lost” (directed by the very dope Matilda Finn) above. The track can be found on last year’s release Atrocity Exhibition, available here.

On Wednesday, Fool’s Gold Records celebrated ten years in the game with its debut New York’s Loudest party.

RESPECT. dropped in to partake in the hype and witnessed some live performances from signed up-and-coming artists. To sum it all up in three words: It was dope.

If you’re familiar with Fool’s Gold, you already know Fool’s Gold is about that new, new.

If you see an artist performing at a Fool’s Gold event one year, then the next year you’ll see them everywhere.

The New York’s Loudest turn up kicked off at 6 pm. Every guest with a rsvp got to see DJ Darling Chuck, Dyme-A-Duzin (Atlantic Records), Divine Council (Epic), and Fool‘s Gold signee DJ Austin Millz–for free.

On the center stage, Darling flexed her skills on the 1, 2s with a blend of throwback pop and R&B hits as guests poured through the doors of the artsy concert venue.

To the right of the stage, bartenders at the cash bar kept the alcohol flowing as guests made their way to the dance floor. Other guests shuffled between the main floor and the venue’s graffiti painted backyard.

At around 7:30 pm, everyone took their places near the stage as Dyme-A-Duzin grabbed the mic and greeted the crowd.

“Brooklyn! What the f**k is up?” The room erupted in a mix of shout-outs and cheers. Sporting oversized retrofashion square framed glasses and a broad grin, Dyme went on to thank everyone for supporting his music on YouTube.

The Crown Heights native’s gratitude evoked even more happy cheers from the crowd. Without further ado, Dyme delved into cinematic performances of “Slept On Freestyle,” “Corner Boyz,” “New Brooklyn,” and “That Chicken.”

People in the audience were dancing and rapping to every song verbatim so you know they were loving his vibe. Four songs in with no water breaks, the 24-year-old emcee showed no signs of slowing down.

He was even dancing and rapping to Craig Mack‘s “Flavor In Your Ear” remix for a minute. Dyme then ended his set with an animated performance of “Marry Mary,” featuring his day one, Broadway Joe.

Next up, Divine Council brought the heat with songs like “P Sherman,” “DECEMBA,” “Rolie Polie Olie,” and “D**k In Dope.” Yeah, we were puzzled by the title too but the crowd loved it.

People were dabbing, Milly rocking and forming mosh pits like mad. Fans were climbing onstage just to dive into the crowd and at some point, someone yelled out “Y’all n***az is f*****g tight.”

From wetting the crowd with bottles of water to telling everyone “Roscoe’s Chicken and American Airlines could suck my d**k,” there was never a dull second. The show was all the way lit.

Don’t know what the beef was with Roscoe’s Chicken or American Airlines. But what we do know, is them boys from Richmond, Virginia didn’t disappoint to entertain.

The showcase ended with an energetic DJ set from Harlem native, Austin Millz.

Austin spun a selection of chart-topping hip-hop hits from everyone from Busta Rhymes to Dipset and Camron.

Keeping his set entertaining, the young producer implemented a series of impressive scratches and mixes followed by shout outs to the crowd before ending with The Jackson Five‘s “Never Can Say Goodbye.”

As a head nod to the days when Fool’s Gold gained popularity by throwing free parties New York’s Loudest is a new free event series to spotlight new talent making waves in today’s music.

Fool’s Gold’s been called “one of the most influential indies in the music business,” by Pitchfork. New York Times’ referred to them as “a taste maker label.” And Billboard’s recognized the underground music circuit giant as an “indie innovator.”

Founded by DJ A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs in 2007, Fool’s Gold is a record company created for the artists by the artists.

By merging Hip-Hop with EDM, Fool”s Gold initially launched its brand with a series of consistent releases.

As a music label modeled after Rawkus and Stone Throw Records FG has introduced artists like Kid Sister, Danny Brown, Kid Cudi, and Duck Sauce to the musical forefront.

However, Fool’s Gold isn’t just a record label, it’s a lifestyle brand on the rise.

A few years ago, Adult Swim premiered an absolutely horrifying parody of every sitcom ever with “Too Many Cooks,” which saw exaggerated versions of your favorite characters get killed off by a random infiltrator (to the delight of everybody). It seems as if actor Jonah Hill has decided to channel that concept to some degree — he has directed Danny Brown‘s new visual for “Ain’t It Funny,” the latest to be taken from last Fall’s Atrocity Exhibition.

In the 80’s-style clip, the Detroit rhymer — who is apparently responsible for Dave Chappelle‘s now-infamous Detroit blunder — plays the pretty screwed-up Uncle Danny who terrorizes his family, played by the likes of filmmaker Gus Van Sant, Growing Pains actress Joanna Kerns, social media star Lauren Avery and a young boy dubbed as “This F***ing Kid.” Seriously.

Check out the video for “Ain’t It Funny” below and — if you haven’t already — pick up Atrocity Exhibition here (the album also boasts the posse cut “Really Doe,” which features Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar and Earl Sweatshirt). In related news, Brown collaborated with UK producer Paul White for his Accelerator EP; that project is available via White’s Bandcamp.

Earl Sweatshirt is back once again with new music, three weeks after releasing “Balance” as a part of the Adult Swim Singles program. His latest track, “Death Whistles,” was premiered on the rapper’s own monthly RMBA radio show Stay Inside yesterday. The roughly two minute song is characteristically Earl, with somber lyrics, lazy flow, and an almost off-putting beat. Towards the beginning of the song, Earl’s frequent collaborator Knxwledge gives a shout out to someone named Edgar, presumably King Krule’s alter-ego Edgar the Beatmaker.
Hopefully this new song will tide over Earl’s fans until September 30th, where he is slated to appear alongside Kendrick Lamar and Ab-Soul on a track off of Danny Brown’s latest album Atrocity Exhibition. You can listen to “Death Whistles” in it’s entirety above and Earl’s full radio show down below.

Danny Brown is sick with “Pneumonia,” on his latest single off his upcoming album Atrocity Exhibition.

Linking up with ScHoolBoy Q, the song was premiered on Shade 45’s Sway In The Morning. The song takes you on a trippy ride about what Danny knows best – money, p*ssy, & weed.

Q is not the only TDE MC to make an appearance on Danny’s upcoming 15-track project, but Kendrick Lamar & Ab-Soul are set to be on the album as well. “Pneumonia” joins the list of singles “Really Doe,” and “When It Rain,” off of Atrocity Exhibition which is due to drop on September 30.

But before Danny’s album drops, he’s set to ride out on his Atrocity Exhibition tour beginning on September 14 in Philadelphia.

Listen to “Pneumonia” below and expect to hear more from Danny Brown soon.’

Danny Brown has unveiled the tracklist and release date for his upcoming LP Atrocity Exhibition. Just recently, the cover art for Danny’s forthcoming album (created by Timothy Saccenti) was revealed but the Detroit native gave Rolling Stone all the specifics on his new project.

He tells Rolling Stone, “At the end of the day, it’s just something that I really took my time with. I know this day and age, a lot of artists can’t really take time off to make music … they’ll get replaced. With me, [I’m] somebody that’s able to sit down and be able to take my time, ’cause aint nobody gonna be out here sounding like me, ain’t nobody gonna be out here doing what I do. I’m confident in this project to know that I’mma satisfy the people that’s already fans of my music. So, if you’re a fan of Danny Brown, you in for a treat.”

The tracklist itself consists of 15 songs and features Ab-Soul, Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick Lamar, B-Real and more.
