Avi, Phlegm, Sleaz, Tedy, and Mitch offer organically brash sonics, combining elements of archaic gangster rap with slow flow melodies consistent with Hip-Hop’s wave of digital trap ethics. TPHB embodies an aesthetic that Hip-Hop is lacking; A counter-cultue attitude that muddies the line between overt vulgarity and musical ingenuity. Harder cuts like “Gimme Head” and “Ran Through” lend way to softer melodies like Sleaz’s “Fuckwidme,” which chronicles a vibrant, intrinsically softer side to the trap. M.I.L.F’s 11-record project plants a much needed abrasiveness back into music. Welcome to “The Player Haters Ball;” Proceed with caution.

At it since ’87, Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) is still very well delivering, having released his Funk Off Mega Mix last month (10/31) for the digital heads. But the vinyl fixing is now available for pre-order! A limited run of 1,000 pressings will be shipping out November 27th. They’re equipped with specially designed foil and carefully embossed jackets. Still not convinced your wax collection should have this? Give the release a spin below.

Brace yourself for 29 minutes of a beautifully mixed pot of French Synch and drum machine-based sounds collected from cassettes and records by Cut Chemist himself. Inspired and executed in a similar fashion to a lot of his previous works, it’s more or less an ode to early 80’s drum machine and synth material. Having had the chance to catch him live on a few occasions, it’s safe to say the listener or viewer’s satisfaction is always guaranteed. You may start dancing or snap your neck a few times. Let your body make those decisions and enjoy. Peace and love:

Mag to premier “Add Anesthesia” from his impending new album, “Anesthesia” The Mello Music Group rhymer delivers semi-conscious, deep-seated rhymes over a vibant, up-beat, Jazz-like melody from Kaz 1. Kent’s strength as an intrinsic storyteller organically develops throughout “Add Anesthesia,” showcasing the multiple layers as a rhymer and reflective artist all together. The new album, “Anesthesia” (slated for a 9/11 release) grabs features from Skyzoo, Freddie Gibbs, Torae, and Red Pill and top tier production from Apollo Brown, Marco Polo, Oh No, and others. Chicago’s Verbal Kent seems to have all the right elements in place; just add anesthesia.

Grabbing help from Pierre Anthony and Invincible (who’s creative depth and verse shines within the record’s structure) gives “The Revival” a valuable dimension. “The song is about taking time out to live, but also planning out your next move at the same time” is not only Finale’s vision for the record, but it’s evident theme throughout. With “Odds & Ends” dropping August 14th, (via Mello Music Group) “The Revival” is an imaginative comeback with an even more prophetic title.

Having extensively covered and spent time around him, (albeit very briefly) Nacho defines artistic authenticity, furthering the notion that if he rhymes about it, he’s most likely done it. “Blunt Raps 2” finds the Seattle bad guy stepping outside the proverbial box, penning life scriptures over production from an array of beat makers (Harry Fraud, Jake One, League Of Starz, etc.) that are new to his catalogue. “BR2” is a 13-track quirky narrative, which presents a very polished Picasso, while staying true to his comedically ominous and gritty nature. Staples like “Nacho Man” and “In The Trump” (produced by Harry Fraud, who was also executively produced the project and released it under his SRFSCHL label) lend way to newer vibes like “Hoes Call” and the League Of Starz produced “Dick Suckin Song.” Much to his liking, “Blunt Raps 2” perpetuates his campaign as Hip-Hop’s antagonist. For mature audiences only.

As the wave from the DMV continues it’s steady incline, “$prinkles” is yet another shining example of why the District is on the come up.

Queens rhymer Nutso premiers his new EP “Divided Soul.” The good vs. evil and duality of man narrative is highlighted on this seven track offering, coupled with razor-sharp rhymes and A1 production from Divided Souls and DJ pain 1, “Divided Soul” is a conceptual paradise with contextual emphasis on betterment of self and maintaining the right path when faced with negative temptation. With features from Houston’s Trae That Truth, General Steele (Smif-N-Wessun) and more, Nutso’s rhyme schemes and messages are reminiscent of a celebrated and authentic New York sound that all Hip-Hop heads long for. Nutso’s veteran insight and creative process on each record legitimizes organically rich sonics that can come from only two places, the Big Apple and the soul.
