Murs and 9th Wonder decided to crash the year-end party with a treat of their own. The California lyrist and North Carolina beatsmith have joined forces once again to release another collaborative album, “Brighter Daze”.

The 10-track project features guest appearances from Problem, Reuben Vincent, Mac Miller, Bad Lucc, Rapsody and Propaganda, with production by 9th Wonder.

Revered for his storytelling rap skills, Murs flexes those skills on the cautionary cut, “How to Rob With Rob,” before slowing down the tempo with the rap ballad, “Lover Murs.” While “Brighter Daze” is a thought-provoking listen, there are a few selections that stand out.

One is the subdued posse cut, “The Shutters,” on which the aforementioned Reuben Vincent and Bad Lucc join Murs for some verbal gymnastics. The other highlight is “Walk Like a God,” featuring Rapsody and Propaganda, which sees the three rhymer-slingers getting spiritual.

The sixth edition of their ongoing series of collaborative albums, Murs and 9th Wonder rise to the occasion yet again with “Brighter Daze” and deliver some quality hip-hop to enjoy for the rest of 2016 and beyond.

Diamond Lane Music Group‘s very own Bad Lucc and Problem add a lil’ gangsta to Big Sean’s “Blessings” with their latest L.A. Leakers remix. Fred The Godson and Bad Lucc deliver “Mayweather Pacquiao” off their upcoming joint project “Affirmative Action.” When scrolling through Twitter, I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw Fred (one of the best lyricists in the game) dropped new music. Then, to see that he linked with one of the better new artists from the West, (Bad Lucc, obviously) I did what any good blogger and fan of incredible Hip-Hop would do, opened my computer as fast as humanly possible. With the pending boxing match of the century in our sights, Fred and Lucc’s bars-over-everything approach to this record offers just that, bars. Impeccable punchlines and crafty wordplay form a metaphorically-centric “boxing” record that draws attention to the matchup. (Without ever really talking about boxing itself) Satire aside, “Affirmative Action” is going to change the game…literally.
