As Spring Break gets underway, many concertgoers are clearing their calendars and preparing for some of the season’s hottest tours featuring their favorite artists. On April 4, 2014, anxious fans stood in line waiting for the doors to open so that they could secure their spots inside the Heaven concert room of The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA. Many were waiting for the headlining act, G-Eazy and supporting act, Rockie Fresh, while others were rushing in with passes for a special VIP meet a greet session with rapper/singer, Kyle.
It was clear from the number of fans in attendance that the These Things Happen tour was a top priority on a lot of must-see lists this year. It’s with good reason: the show that G-Eazy & Rocky put on is wildly energetic, entertaining and reminiscent of a house party that should not be missed. Everyone can expect tons of crowd surfing, liquor chugging and a set list full of G-Eazy’s new album cuts and past hits for the day one fans.
Before G-Eazy and Rockie Fresh hit the stage, rapper Kurt Rockmore, Kyle, and Canadian singer/rapper, Tory Lanez made sure that the crowd was amped.
After brief sets from the openers, MMG’s Rockie Fresh appeared to perform “I’m Wit It” and “You A Lie,” as well as “Aladdin,” off of his joint mixtape with Casey Veggies, Fresh Veggies. Each track garnered more excitement and crowd participation than the last.
Just as G-Eazy was about to make his appearance, the crowd impatiently began to chant his name. Then, the lights dimmed and the music began. G-Eazy brought a nostalgic ’50s vibe and effortless cool to the stage.
He performed older songs, such as “Endless Summer” and “Kings.” He also previewed a couple of new songs including “I Mean It,” from his upcoming album, These Things Happen. Midway through the show, G-Eazy brought Rockie Fresh and Tory Lanez back out for the “Been On” remix. The show kept a steady stream of bass- knocking beats and fan favorites. There wasn’t one boring moment. If you attend the These Things Happen Tour, expect to be fully entertained.
