Barion McQueen has a career, personally and professionally, followed by a fascinating, winding path, and now he sits among the leading experts of the music industry, as well as the marketing industry. He was not always at the top. Like most people, he had to fight his way there, and learn from his experiences to grow. Starting out as a musician at a young age, Barion McQueen quickly noticed all the many holes and lackings of the music industry. He saw how difficult it is for quality artists to be heard, and how stale the industry can be at times.
As he struggled to navigate the hardships of the music industry, many past record deals which fell through, being shelved as an artist himself he made it a point to understand the behind the scenes aspects of the industry. After finally releasing his first album independently he slowly transitioned from being the artist to working more behind the scenes, finding, and promoting new young talent. Still, his mind could not rest. He kept thinking of how he might make the music industry better, how he might give young artists a chance to be heard, to get their music straight to the people.
In 2012, he left his position in the construction industry to put his vision to work. That year, he founded The Brand Castle, a social media, PR, and marketing agency that rapidly became the talk of town, helping entrepreneurs, music artists, creatives and experienced businessmen alike grow. Seeing the tremendous success he had with The Brand Castle, in 2014, he started The Hip Hop Dose, his own music magazine, which he’s used, to this day, to reach out to musicians and promote young blood on the music scene. In other words, Barion McQueen is now using his success, connections, and influence to be the change he would have liked to see as a young rapper. He is putting his creative mindset to good use, in all areas of entrepreneurship. He is building up personal brands, letting out his love for music through the new talent, and creating innovative social media campaigns.
And more and more emerging artists are reaching out to work with him, rather than trying for a record deal with the same stale music industry. They are coming to Barion because they see he is oriented toward change, and that the only thing that matters at the is talent. Not money. Not marketability. Raw, authentic talent. This is where Barion McQueen has the traditional record labels beat. He listens to the artist and works with them to help them grow artistically. In all he does for young artists, his love of music shines through.
Barion McQueen is the music executive you need to know about because he is like no other executive in this field. He is a man led by talent and passion, rather than greed. Most importantly, he is someone who knows how valuable a first shot can be to an emerging artist. With the memory of his own bitter disappointment in the music industry still fresh in his mind, Barion McQueen is using his PR experience to help other musicians and keep them from experiencing what he experienced throughout his musical journey.
