Last month, Lil Durk kicked off his recent release from Def Jam Records with a new project called Just ‘Cause Ya’ll Waited. The 12-track project features big names like Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Baby, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and more.
In addition to providing the album’s available streams, I also got a chance to connect with the Chicago star for a quick, exclusive Q&A, where he speaks on the new project, future plans and more. Check it all out below!
RESPECT.: What do you have planned for 2018?
Lil Durk: I gotta couple of things in the works, I’m just trying to start off fresh. Just got out of the Def Jam situation. Got a lot of shows coming up and fresh new stuff for the fans.
Could you describe the inspiration behind your album?
It’s a fresh new sound and [it’s] about me doing just what I want to do. The cover was inspired by just [having] natural swag, I [liked] the picture so I decided to make it the face of the project.
Could you break down this new sound of yours?
It’s fresh, it’s different..it’s trap soul.
