It’s been three years since G Herbo, formerly Lil Herb, came onto the scene with his critically acclaimed Welcome To Fazoland mixtape. That mixtape helped garner him a lot of traction which in turn helped him land a position as a XXL Freshmen in 2016. Unfortunately, his “latest” project as of last year (Humble Beast) went through heavy promotion only to never happen. Instead, he dropped some singles here and there before dropping two mixtapes, Strictly 4 My Fanz and Welcome to Fazoland 1.5, all meant to hold the fans over until his debut project dropped. While a a release date still hasn’t been set, G Herbo still blesses us with a new visual for “Legend.”
The video for “Legend” has Herb flexin’ from the streets to his house. It’s nothing too visually complex, however the simplicity in the video is effective. While he’s obviously the focal point of the video, his boys add energy to the visuals that you hear in the song. While the rapper continues to notify the world that he’s a legend in this song, there’s one point where G Herbo is posted in front of a line of foreign vehicles while holding stacks of money with no worries. Kind of peculiar, but the song and the video still go hard.
The song was produced by Atlanta’s Southside, and it’s our luck that he’s already teased a collaborative project in the works with him titled Swervo.
In a recent sit down with XXL, the young Chicago rapper explains that he wants his debut album to resemble Jay-Z‘s Reasonable Doubt and Nas‘ Illmatic.
While we await his upcoming project Humble Beast, “Legend” shows exactly where G Herbo is about to be in his career if he continues on the path he is on. Check out his latest effort below.
