D’Angelo‘s neo-soul classic is about to get a serious reboot while he celebrates the 20th anniversary of his album Brown Sugar.
The 1995 release helped bring neo-soul to music’s forefront as well as establishing the singer as a staple in the R&B world. The re-issue will include extras from the album, including a colorful album booklet and remixes featuring the likes of DJ Premier and CJ Mackintosh.
While some of the tracks were previously heard, D’Angelo released a string of new mixes this week from the release. Mixes include an airy, live-sounding Incognito Molasses remix of “Brown Sugar,” a re-imagined version of “Cruisin’” and a Two-Way Street mix of “Me and Those Dreamin’ Eyes of Mine.”
If you’re digging some soul for the ending stretch of the week, make sure to check out the remixes and pre-order the re-issue on iTunes.
