Vince Staples continues to bless fans with new tunes from his forthcoming album Big Fish Theory. Following the cuts “BagBak” and “Big Fish” comes “Rain Come Down,” an off-kilter, hard-hitting track that features assistance from fellow West Coaster Ty Dolla $ign.
On the track (which is visually — and beautifully — symbolized by a fish trapped in a cup during a rain storm), Ty$ sets up a fairly dark backdrop while Vince continues his penchant for bringing street tales to life in unique ways:
I’m the man, ten toes in the street
I’m the blood on the leaves, I’m the nose in the Sphinx
Where I’m from we don’t go to police
Where I’m from we don’t run, we just roll with the heat
I’m the back of the bus, take a seat
Take a ride on the side where we die in the street
And the cops don’t come for some weeks…
