Chaz French Delivers "Pops," Reveals 'True Colors' Album

Even though he has so much farther to go, it’s been a long journey for D.C.’s Chaz French, who has been crafting quality classics since he dropped 2014’s Happy Belated. Now, the newly-minted Motown emcee is ready to deliver his official debut album (and his official follow-up to the very-dope These Things Take Time).

Today, Chaz has announced his new album to be titled True Colors, which drops July 14th. In a forthcoming feature with RESPECT. (dropping soon), he broke down the meaning behind the title:

The project is…basically just piggybacking off of These Things Take Time — after me being signed and people thinking I’m this way, and people showing their true colors, and me finding out what it really is to be in the industry, to [have people] think that you’re rich, or you’re famous. People just have this whole perception of your life based off an announcement, based off of followers, based off of you being verified on Twitter, based off the amounts of likes you get or whatever it is.

Chaz also explained how “colors [represent] moods and feelings,” which sounds like the album will act as a kaleidoscope for the ears — similar to synesthesia playing a major part on Pharrell Williams and N.E.R.D.‘s Seeing Sounds.
