It’s no secret, trippy alt-R&B is easy to like. Over the last seven years, artists like Boots, Frank Ocean, and Miguel has gained popularity promoting sensual lyrics over exotic production.
The new-age sound appeals to today’s generation, and unique artists make it timeless. Making music with a timeless sound isn’t as easy as it seems, but Yellow Shoots is mastering the skill.
Born Greg Mathews in southwest Philadelphia, Shoots got his start as an instrumentalist playing backup in various venues including Jay Z‘s Budweiser Made In America festival. Writing songs with a unique spin were always a part of his forte but singing came into focus later on.
Shoots started recording his latest EP after relocating to Brooklyn, NY in 2014 and caught the attention of various industry vets like Skyzoo The Writer and !llmind.
Soon, singles “Heaven” featuring Skyzoo, and the EP’s title song received positive acclaim from Fader Magazine and listeners via Soundcloud. Now, after months of teasing fans, Yellow Shoots presents the Stormy Weather EP along with a new music visual. Get into the new releases below and stay tuned for more from Yellow Shoots soon.
