The Weeknd is flying pretty high following the release of his third official album Starboy, which arrived in the midst of high-end fanfare late last year. With the help of the Daft Punk-assisted title track and the polarizing single “False Alarm”, the project became one of 2016’s best sellers, further solidifying the Canadian star’s place in Pop’s upper echelon.
Well into the first month of 2017, Abel decides to keep his momentum in high gear via a new, BHRTHR-directed visual for “Party Monster” (co-written with Lana Del Rey, among others); it’s a song that continues the XO captain’s usual tales of debauchery and wealth (while having relations with Angelina Jolie look-a-likes that are already taken). As The Weeknd’s visuals usually are, his latest is a lesson in well-tailored chaos — the clip features a desert drag race, a plethora of crosses, lots of fire and…just watch the clip all the way through for maximum effect.
Enjoy “Party Monster” below and — if you haven’t already — pick up Starboy here.
