As Grime continues to globalize, newer (or more recent) stars like Stormzy and veteran Skepta continue to increase exposure for both their culture’s gatekeepers and frontrunners, following in the footsteps of Dizzee Rascal and Wiley in terms of worldwide success. As a result, many UK artists are finding themselves thriving in new markets — including North America — and in unlikely collaborations (ex. road Rap god Giggs and Hip-Hop crown bearer Drake).
One of Grime’s pioneers, East London’s Lethal B (now better known as Lethal Bizzle), certainly deserves the newfound attention, thanks to pivotal releases that have paved the way for Grime — both as a solo star and as a member of the legendary More Fire Crew (refer to classics like “Oi!” and “Pow“). Now, he readies his “return” with a new seven-track EP titled You’ll Never Make a Million from Grime.
Below lies the lead-off single and visual from the EP — Lethal and the aforementioned Skepta join forces on the hard-hitting “I Win,” which sees the two stunting on bikes (a light parody of Top Gear, it appears) and trading boasts about their individual triumphs. Cameos include Tinchy Stryder and Newham General D Double E; those that stay ’til the end get a teaser of the next EP cut, titled “Wingback Ting.”
Enjoy “I Win” (produced by Skepta) and pre-order You’ll Never Make a Million from Grime via iTunes. Fashion heads might also want to check out Lethal’s Dench clothing brand as well.
