Between featuring on other artists’ songs, and touring with Mick Jenkins through Redbull Sound Select, St. Louis via Chicago rapper Smino has been hard at work on his upcoming blkswn album. He previously dropped the album’s title track, “blkswn” in December 2016. Today, he gives us the latest offering from the project, “Anita.” Smino’s unique style is what the industry’s been missing. His cutthroat and quick witted flow mixed with harmonies, sets him apart from rappers today.The track’s title is a dope play on words, as he raps “Lemme cut on this Anita\I need her,” speaking about his girl and how good she looks. Soulection producer and frequent collaborator, Monte Booker provides the bouncy and futuristic production that sets the tone of the song.
A few months ago, he tweeted that the album is 99.9% done, so we should hopefully be receiving the full effort within the coming months. Stay tuned!
