Chance The Rapper is definitely a game-changer when it comes to all facets of his craft, particularly in regards to music videos — we saw a great example of this when he dropped an iPhone-filmed clip for the Jay Electronica, Francis & The Lights and (Chance’s cousin) Nicole-assisted “How Great” via Twitter.
Now, the Chicago emcee is back with a new visual for “Same Drugs” (created with The Social Experiment and Lido), the latest to be taken from last year’s album Coloring Book. This go ’round, Chance premiered the video — which looks like a trippy, dreamlike version of Jim Henson’s Sesame Street — through Facebook Live. Apparently, Chance attempted to do the same on Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram first; in a now-deleted tweet, he claimed that those platforms told him to take a video of his computer screen, which would’ve given a low-quality result.*
Check out the Jake Schreier-directed video for “Same Drugs” below. Unlike what’s on the actual album, this version also features vocals from John Legend, Eryn Allen Kane, Yebba, Francis Starlite (from the previously mentioned Francis & The Lights) and Macie Stewart.
