“As you get older you realize that most of your peers are either dead or in jail…. the fact that we can move past the BS is a testimony [to] how much we have grown.” – Jim Jones to Billboard
Jim Jones and Jay Z have had a jagged past, as made transparent by the numerous diss tracks and words spoken of one another, to one another, over the years. Notably, Jones’ “We Fly High” was transformed into “Brooklyn High” by Jay, at what was around the height of their rivalry dating back to the early 2000s, when Dipset was still fresh out of conception.
News recently surfaced that Jay and Roc Nation have signed Jones to a management deal with the label, meaning the once sour relationship has transformed into a business one, with Jim Jones providing his musical versatility and expertise, and Roc Nation managing his progress alongside him.
Vic Medina, an executive at the record label, took to Instagram to post up a picture of Jim Jones signing papers at a location tagged “RocNation HQ.” It didn’t take long for the internet hive mind to piece together that the Dipset member has now joined the family at Roc Nation.
T.I., Yo Gotti, Rapsody and Belly are among the extensive list of artists who have recently signed with the Roc Nation behemoth. It’ll be a thrill to see who comes next in the long line of talent being paired up with Jay’s label.
