Big Sean has been in top gear since the release of “No More Interviews” and “Bounce Back” last Fall…since then, the Detroit rhymer has been blessing his fans with various live appearances and visuals, which all lead up to the release of Sean’s forthcoming album I Decided.
Last night, the G.O.O.D. Music artist continued his forward momentum by making his official debut on Saturday Night Live as the show’s guest performer. In addition to breaking out a dope rendition of “Bounce Back”, he also revealed a new track from the aforementioned project titled “Sunday Morning Jetpack”, which sounds reminiscent of Kanye West and Chance The Rapper‘s recent Gospel-infused work (Sean even raps about Kirk Franklin, who collaborated with both ‘Ye and Chance on their respective albums last year). In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Sean also revealed that The-Dream is featured on the album version of said track…until that drops, you can enjoy the on-stage cut below.
Just prior to the SNL performance, Big Sean also chatted with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, during which he revealed the meaning behind his new album title:
The concept of the album, this is me and this is an older version of me. It’s parallel right there with each other, but the name of the album is called I Decided. I realized my whole life changed when I decided. I feel like life is ‘bout making right decisions at any point, or the wrong decisions.
The story of the album is: imagine you went through life and you made all the wrong decisions your whole life. You get to the end of your life and your at a moment where it’s like, ‘God, I did everything wrong, I didn’t work it out with the love of my life, I messed it up with my parents, I’m not doing the job I was sent here to do on Earth.’ So then imagine something happens, then you get one chance to redo it all. So the album is basically like having that wisdom of an old man while you’re young and going through life & figuring it out.
You can enjoy that clip below as well. I Decided drops February 3rd; you can pre-order the album via iTunes. BONUS: Also included is an Apple Music stream of Big Sean’s newest drop, “Halfway Off The Balcony”.
