There are problems brewing with the estate of legendary southern rapper Pimp C, as his widow Chinara Butler, is no longer in charger of their property.
The Beaumont Enterprise reported that on Wednesday, Chinara Butler was removed as the estate’s administrator after Pimp C’s oldest son, Chad Butler Jr., accused his estranged stepmother of mishandling funds. Judge Gerald Eddins granted Butler Jr.’s request during a two-hour hearing in Jefferson County, Texas.
During the hearing, Butler Jr’s lawyer Josh Hienz presented documents revealing that Chinara had spent $150,000 of the estate’s revenue between 2011 to 2013 and over $80,000 from 2014 to 2016.
In addition to the spent money, Hienz also Josh Heinz told the judge that Pimp C’s Port Arthur home is now in foreclosure and his Bentley was repossessed because Chinara failed to pay the $2,800 monthly car note. This ins’t the first time Butler Jr and Chinara battled in court. In 2010, Chinara was removed for several months after a judge found she could not account for certain estate assets and had misapplied $150,000 worth of jewelry.
“Nobody’s gotten any money,” said Heinz. “She’s on red carpets in Los Angeles and New York and these kids have nothing.”
Chinara responded, saying, “I have not left (Pimp C’s) kids abandoned. I’ve invested my own money into this estate and done my best to keep Pimp C relevant.”
“The money just isn’t rolling in like it used to,” she claims. “For entertainers, money is made from performances,” she testified. “If he’s not here to perform, how do you get a visual of him?”
According to public record, the estate has a $7.2 million federal tax lien and owes $5.1 million to a former manager.
Pimp C died Dec 4. 2007, without a will. So while the family battle over his estates, Pimp C’s son is pursuing his music career. Hear his new Mike-Dean produced track “Trust Nobody.”
