Talk about a thug holiday: Trick Daddy‘s famous words are a perfect description for the abundance of new music we get to hear from Meek Mill, 2 Chainz and Jeezy today, which should make for the perfect turn-up weekend. Below lies each release for you to enjoy.
Meek Mill – ‘Dreamchasers 4’
Out of all of these choices, none had anywhere near the anticipation as Meek Mill’s latest effort, which represents the fourth installment of his highly-coveted Dreamchasers series. This go round, Meek goes the iTunes (and Spotify) route for DC4, which features 14-tracks with appearances from Tory Lanez, Lil Uzi Vert, Quavo, Young Thug, 21 Savage, (MMG member) Tracy T, Pusha T and even his late artist Lil Snupe. Not surprisingly, the Philly rapper’s love interest, Nicki Minaj, also contributes to the long-awaited release.
The biggest take from DC4 will be whether or not he sends any direct responses to detractors (which the Hip-Hop world is sure to know soon enough). Nonetheless, Meek Mill’s proper re-entry to music post-Drake is well-needed to rebuild his momentum…hopefully, 2017 will see an official follow-up to the critically-acclaimed Dreams Worth More Than Money.
2 Chainz – ‘Hibachi for Lunch’
Debatably, 2 Chainz might be the most consistent emcee this year. The Atlanta veteran has already released three projects in 2016 — Felt Like Cappin’, Daniel Son; Necklace Don and ColleGrove, the latter of which functioned as a collaborative album with Lil Wayne — and is now revealing a fourth project titled Hibachi For Lunch (seems like 2 Chainz is heavy in Asian culture nowadays). Unlike the others, Hibachi For Lunch is in EP form, with seven tracks and appearances from Quavo (he’s been busy as well), Gucci Mane, Future and Ty Dolla $ign. In addition to Apple Music, you can also enjoy via Spotify.
Honestly, it wouldn’t be all that shocking if Chainz dropped a 5th release before year’s end. The man is working (UPDATE: There’s also a new clothing line of the same name).
Jeezy – ‘Trap Or Die 3’
Last but not least is Jeezy, one of Atlanta Trap’s biggest pioneers…today, he drops off Trap Or Die 3, 12 years after the now-classic original shook up the Rap world. As with Meek’s latest, Trap Or Die 3 is available via Apple Music (below) or Spotify; it also features appearances from Chris Brown, Plies, Bankroll Fresh, Yo Gotti, French Montana and Lil Wayne over 16 tracks. Being that he decided to continue the series sans DJ Drama (or even fellow Apphiliates alum Don Cannon), it will be interesting to see if TOD3 can hold the mixtape rawness of its predecessors.
