The dream team, Kanye West and Drake, make most musicians look like simpletons. The two rappers hustle hard to maintain their reigns as the kings of the both pop culture and the music industry.
While Kanye released the iconic The Life of Pablo, Drake followed up with his patriotic Views. Drake breathed new life into Toronto, while Kanye did the same to his already stacked repertoire of albums. 2016 has been a good year for music.
Kanye opened up about the collaboration to Vogue on Wednesday, during an interview about Yeezy Season 4. “We’re just working on music, working on a bunch of music together, just having fun going into the studio. We’re working on an album, so there’s some exciting things coming up soon,” he said.
Kanye declined to give a release date, so the mystery around the album continues. The collaboration was further teased on a billboard last month in LA. The G.O.O.D. Music and OVO logos, run by Kanye and Drake respectively, were paired together as a visual clue.
The two musicians have created highly successful collaborative albums with other musicians before. Kanye paired with Jay Z on the incredible Watch The Throne in 2011. Drake also joined with Future on their album What A Time to be Alive last year.
Just as Jay Z mentored Kanye, Kanye will now be the mentor to Drake. The rappers continue to pass the baton. Move aside Jay Z and Future, looks like the music industry has its new reigning pair.
