Today marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Tupac Shakur. To make sure we will never forget this hip-hop legend, a biopic of the rapper is on its way with the second trailer of the film, All Eyez on Me being released this morning.
Demetrius Shipp Jr. takes on the role of Tupac. The trailer gives us a pretty solid understanding of what we can expecting on All Eyez on Me. Tackling subjects like his struggle as a black man and his political activism. The story looks like it takes on troubles that he ran into up until his death.
The film seems to have lined up with a number of actors to make sure all avenues are covered. Playing the role of Shakur’s late mother, Afeni Shakur is Danai Gurira, whilst Grace Gibson acts as Faith Evans. Music artist, Kat Graham plays the role of Jada Pinkett. The biopic has been directed by Benny Boom, who has been responsible for creating a number of dope music videos such as 50 Cent’s “Window Shopper” and Nelly’s “Dilemma.”
A few months ago, Shipp Jr. spoke on the difficulties of filming some of the scenes in the film in an interview with IBTimes UK.
“The most difficult scene is by far the death scene where he gets shot. That was the hardest because it all connected with his story. I felt for him but in a different way because playing him, I wanted people to understand him because for it all to end with that scene, it was like I understand why his life was cut short and he was really misunderstood on a lot of things and betrayed in a lot of ways.”
