Chattanooga born rapper Isaiah Rashad has been lenient this year in terms of releases, with “Nelly,” the somber ballad about both his love life and the rapper, coming out last September, and “Smile” coming out this January.
Through all the elapsed time between his last full length project, Cilvia Demo, and now, Isaiah hasn’t lost the nostalgic, murky sound that made his debut project unique; both of his released tracks have the same air about them, and he continues to add onto this building resume with a new song and visual, “Free Lunch.”
Now that Isaiah Rashad is on the come up, and making his imprint at TDE, he’s giving a friendly reminder to his friends, family, and fans to use their meal tickets, or food stamps. The music video largely takes place in and around a laundromat, with money being washed in the machines and hung out to dry- most likely a reference to the act of “cleaning” money, also known as money laundering.
In the last few seconds of the video, a date written in white-colored lettering appears over a black background, and reads the date “09.02.16.” It looks like the long anticipated follow up to Cilvia Demo is on its way out.
You can purchase Cilvia Demo here, via iTunes.
