Hip-Hop Duo, Saint Iago, Release Second Single "1st to the 1st"

Brooklyn’s latest hip-hop duo, Saint Iago, are gearing up for their debut album in a big way. Their latest release, “1st to the 1st,” is a total departure in sound from their first single, “Never Around,” which blended together eerie synths, jazzy vocals, and spoken word to create a sound that was as intriguing as it was captivating.

This new track, by contrast, is a banger and a half that picks up quickly and doesn’t slow down. It opens with a flurry of horns, which are soon accompanied by a booming bass line and Caesar at his most aggressive. The high energy suits him and the Brooklyn rapper is able to showcase his flow in a way that we hadn’t heard yet. The “work hard, get paid” sentiment may not be entirely original, but Caesar delivers it with refreshingly unbridled emotion, at times almost screaming over the blaring instrumental.

“Money really all that? Least that’s what a n***a heard/Gotta go get it stacked/That’s why I’m putting in work.”

It’s abrasive. It’s raw. But it’s addictive as well. “1st to the 1st” reveals that there’s more to the talented duo than we’ve heard so far and I can’t wait for what’s to come.
