Earlier this month, YG & Nipsey Hussle began shooting the visuals for their new controversial protest record “F*** Donald Trump.” Unfortunately, this attracted the wrong kind of attention and the set was promptly shut down by police. Ironically, this seems to be the type of treatment that YG & Nipsey Hussle are worried may increase towards African-American and Hispanic citizens if Trump were to hold office in the coming presidential election. This however did not ultimately stop the production of the new music video (see below), and looks to have only increased the amount of energy behind the track itself. In a recent interview regarding the new track, YG stated “This is real hip-hop” and is prepared to deal with any consequences moving forward.
YG performed “FDT” this weekend at Coachella (see below), reuniting with key collaborator, DJ Mustard. This was a pleasant surprise considering the two have not been on great terms for the better part of this year. However YG did confirm they are all good in a recent Instagram post that read, “WE BACK B******!” Now that the two have seemingly worked out whatever divided them in the first place, fans are eager for new material. Hopefully whatever they’re cooking up in the studio is reminiscent of the work put in on YG’s most recent album, My Krazy Life.
While fans look forward to Coachella Weekend #2, and the reuniting of possibly the best duo on the west coast since Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, “FDT” will serve as the protest anthem for many voters and no doubt a thorn among many in the side of Donald Trump. All controversy aside, YG & Nipsey couldn’t be more correct in their message of how important your vote is. This may be the most important election in years, with its consequences to be felt world wide.
