Indiscriminate, done at random or without careful judgement, just about sums it up. You get no warning shots. For those just getting familiar with Eff Yoo, pronounced f you, welcome. In a nutshell, Eff has a pretty rich background on the hip-hop scene – being a part of Rawkus Records‘ street team in the 90’s being one of them. Laughs included after asking him about those early days, he replied with a pretty hilarious story:
There was the time HeadQCuarterz has us sneak in drugs and guns in our backpacks to the Pharoahe Monch release party at the Tunnel. Also, we beat the sh*t out of the Bad Boy street team once just for kicks.
He’s earned his stripes in the underground no question, having strong ties and lasting friendships with frequent fliers Shabaam Sahdeeq, Spit Gemz and other notable artists. An ongoing YouTube series titled ‘Don’t Be a Piece of Shit Your Whole Life‘ is another ongoing creative pursuit Eff is involved in – combining helpful life tips for everyday use and humor. Considering his sarcastic ways and him known for being bold, the title makes sense and is certainly a knee slapper.
“Indiscriminate Shots” is simply gritty, another look at an angle of the street life where taking no bullsh*t and reacting on site is prevalent – and very real. It’s not reinventing the wheel or a shocking topic to anyone who lives in the city or anywhere violence occurs honestly. But what’s refreshing here is the Queens connect. We all love a good, reflective Queensbridge record. Grimy street lyricism painted over frequent parter in rhythm Ridiculous‘ canvas. What else would you expect inviting Big Noyd in the booth anyway? This single here leads us to Eff’s Platformz Records release ‘The Eff Word’. The LP will be available on 4/21. If I were you, I’d save the date.
Below you can also find his new video for the album’s title track that was released last week. Peace and love!
