Last week, the NBA season came to an exciting finish and with it came the final chapter of the brilliant 20 year career of Los Angeles Laker’s Guard, Kobe Bryant. After scoring 60 points in his final game on an astronomical 22/50 shooting, many wondered what the basketball junkie would do after he retired.
Of course the first thing on his list was very Mamba like.
Another one of his confirmed hobbies will be working at his newly purchased Kobe Studios which will produce stories in forms of books and movies. But it’s his basketball related escapade that has people buzzing with it being rumored that he could potentially make a move into broadcasting, particularly on TNT’s Inside The NBA. This move of course would reunite him with TNT analyst and former Laker great, Shaquille O’Neal. The two were teammates in LA from 1996-2003 in which they captured three straight NBA championships in four trips to the finals. The duo was known as one of the greatest one-two punches in NBA history before rumors of incompatibility between the two off of the court began to surface. The rumored break up became a reality in 2003 when the Lakers traded Shaq to the Miami Heat. The break up is known as one of the biggest travesties in sports history.
With all of that in the rearview, Shaq and Kobe have since made up and in late last year, Shaq and fellow analyst Kenny Smith extended an invitation to Kobe to come be on the show. Well, according to TMZ Sports, this invitation has become an actual reality as TNT has reached out to the 5 time NBA champion about his interest in the show. Although Kobe has yet to respond publicly about his interest in joining, could you imagine the amazing banter on a show featuring Kobe Bryant, Shaq, and Charles Barkley?
Sold. Mamba please don’t break our hearts, join the show.
