And the tributes continue on in honor of the Purple One’s sudden passing. From poems, open letters, essays, and now stage performances, Prince‘s legacy lives on.
Last night singer, D’Angelo took the stage on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to pay homage through song. The Black Messiah performed a beautiful rendition of Prince’s “Sometimes It Snows in April.” Sitting behind a grand piano with a big brim hat and white furry vest the singer poured his heart out in song. He was accompanied by Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum, the duo behind Princess, the Prince cover band.
Towards the end of the song, D’Angelo got a little choked up when switching up the lyrics by saying, “Sometimes I wish life was never-ending / All good things, they say, never last / Often dream of heaven and I know that Prince is there.”
