Rapsody (and Hip-Hop fans) rejoice: the North Carolinian lyricist will soon be releasing her new album EVE, the official follow-up to the criminally-slept-on Laila’s Wisdom. First, she delivers the new single “IBTIHAJ,” which features assistance from music legends GZA and D’Angelo; while the song pays homage to the women who paved the way before her, the title itself is named after Ibtihaj Muhammad, who became the first Muslim American to compete in a hijab during the 2016 Summer Olympics:
Women been leading the way, since Roxanne Shante
And the Unit had Flav and Jay had Marcy neighbors that waved
Lookin’ confused, I be like “Cool, maybe it’s age”
When I see afro puffs, I think maybe it’s Rage
Enjoy the 9th Wonder-produced cut below.
