Today, a NYC born and LA raised music artist, who goes by the name Iman Europe, releases her “Caterpillar” EP.
During SXSW’s music festival (March 16-March 21), the alien queen and her team were passing around caterpillar shaped USB sticks – made to fit into a laptop or directly into an Android phone – that shared an early listen to the “Caterpillar” EP.
When we asked Iman what her project was about, she said, “If you’ve never experienced any kind of struggle or breaking point in your life, you will not fuck with this project. This project is based on the Generation Y creative who dreams higher than they can reach, who wants more than they can handle, who is learning and hurting, yet pursuing. This project is the reality of our uncomfortable placement in the world right now; our limbo, our in-between, our cocoon.”
The “Caterpillar” EP offers five tracks, including “Bound To Fly,” a track that definitely stands out from the others. The project has a soulful, jazz-like, hip-hop feel to it.
