It’s easy to walk away from this song with the conclusion, “Wow, those guys can rap!” but the real appeal of the song lies in its structure. Logic‘s chorus sutures the verses together, uniting them even though they are essentially just exercises in lyricism. The chorus isn’t catchy per se, but Logic‘s ad-lib – that throaty “UHH!” – gives the song the feel of a cypher. It doesn’t “hook” you in the sense that it makes you keep listening in spite of how you really feel about the song. Rather it gives you time to process what you’re hearing, organizing your listening experience. Listen below. This is very creative.
