There has always been a permeable boundary between rap and R&B, but there’s been a recent push by R&B artists to crossover into the rap world. The results haven’t been particularly impressive (See: Chris Brown), but the phenomenon continues. Ryan Leslie does better than his compatriots, but it’s still kind of strange. If it counts for anything, at least Ryan is upfront about his current skill level; he messes up a few times, but he continues instead of making excuses. With that in mind, in the end Sway is cool with him rapping, so the rest of us should probably just follow suit.
