If you’re not familiar with singer-songwriter Sirach Charles (aka Angel), you need to be: not only has the London artist consistently dropped heat for much of this decade (ex. About Time, Possession With Intent and the more recent Her), the Island/Motown star has also crafted hit records for the likes of Beyoncé and Justin Bieber as part of The Clutch.

Last month, Angel liberated a new, Reggae-and-B cut titled “Hi Grade,” a perfect selection for the impending Summer weather. As he revealed to The FADER (who premiered the single), the song also pays homage to his father, Tenadi Charles, and Grenadian heritage:

I actually started producing Reggae music initially before I found love in R&B… This record was an opportunity to make something my Pops and Uncles would be really proud of. It’s authentic and represents my foundation and roots. It’s really important to me.

You can enjoy “Hi Grade” and — if you’d like more where that came from — last year’s Rich Homie Quan-assisted “Fvxk With You” below. Currently, Angel is putting the finishing touches on a new EP, said to be arriving sometime this Summer.
