Traditionally when it comes to this beautiful genre called Hip-Hop, getting people to take you seriously can sometimes be a challenge. We’ve all heard of the term, “Struggle Rapper,” and I’m willing to bet my petty journalist stipend that every one of you readers knows at least 2-3 rappers, personally, who has hit you with their tape.

Often times, these artists are talented but have odd ways of promoting and even sometimes spamming people with their art. Las Vegas rep VonBeezy looks to make them one in the same with his infectious new single, “CD Cases & Markers.” Coupling a few coming of age nods to childhood heroes like Dame Dash and Jay-Z, “CD Cases & Markers” is buoyed by a catchy chorus from VonBeezy in which he encourages persuades you to keep pressing play. In a way, it goes right back to the roots of what a single is supposed to be. A promotion for your body of work.

“Really, I was going through some old DMs on my Twitter and I noticed it was full of rappers sending music and video links,” Von told RESPECT. via email, “‘Check out my shit’ was such a common slogan when It came to these guys’ promo pitch and I started thinking, ‘Man, there’s really no more word to mouth. It’s really over for passing out mixtape. CD Cases and Markers are dead…”
