Miguel, singer and producer from California, made his epic return to New Haven, Connecticut. It was a special night for the artist because he had never played at the College Street Music Hall, the venue that held the event. Fans were given an unforgettable performance on a historic night.

Joining Miguel on tour is TDE’s own, SiR. SiR’s new project, November is a melodic, soulful piece that was a huge success. The project was personal and had no help from any other artists except for the song, “Something Foreign,” that featured label mate, ScHoolboy Q. Top Dawg Entertainment’s (TDE) taste in artists have been undeniably superior and as of late, the addition of a new R&B prospect shows they don’t intend to slow down. SiR’s performance was a sample of what’s to expect on The Championship Tour this summer with the rest of his TDE family.

A cold, windy night didn’t stop thousands of fans from waiting in a huge line to gain entry. An incredible live band assisted Miguel in recreating hits from all his previous albums. He performed songs like “All I Want Is You,” “Arch & Point,” and “Adorn.” He also performed songs he was featured on like “Lotus Flowerbomb” and “Power Trip.” A venue full of screaming women made it nearly impossible to talk to the person next you. The vocalist sang beautifully, sounding exactly how he does on record. His skills as a guitar player are also under appreciated. Miguel joined his live band to bring his own twist of strings to the music. A great performance by a great artist.

Here’s a tour that should easily break records for 2018. Top Dawg Entertainment and its artists have announced The Championship Tour, which will feature everyone on its roster except Isaiah Rashad (?) — Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, SZA, SiR and Luke Skiiiwalker. Everything kicks off in May, as can be seen via the above schedule; tickets go on sale on the 24th of this month (Wednesday).

“When dropping a song makes your day…”, TDE emcee Isaiah Rashad tweeted this morning, after  revealing his first official single of 2015, Nelly. It’s been a while since the 24 year old, Chattanooga native dropped any new tunes, but with a secret sophomore project due sometime soon its only fitting he bless the fans with a brand new jam. The track’s hazy mixture of keys and 808’s are the result of an Antydote, Chris Calor, and Jowin collab, and perfectly set the scene for Rashad’s reflective, yet seductive, lyricism. Hopefully, this 3 minute piece will be enough to hold over anxious TDE stans, as they await whatever mysterious album/mix-tape/EP Rashad is cooking up for us this Fall.

TDE’s Jay Rock gives us a behind the scenes look at the inspiration behind his long awaited album, “90059.” With a Sept. 11th digital release date ahead of him, the Watts’ native gives fans an inside look at his hometown. Though Jay Rock has been busy touring and promoting “90059,” he’s also been grinding in the studio.  In the brief documentary, Rock says that he has “4 or 5 albums of perfect material” ready. For reasons unknown, YouTube removed TDE’s account from the platform. The page featured music videos from all of its roster including flagship artist Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, SZA and Isaiah Rashad. When you head to their page now, the following message appears:

Top Dawg Entertainment has been terminated because we received multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement regarding material the user posted.

If you aren’t in the know, the independent label’s star was sued recently by Italian photographer Giordano Cipriani because the camp has allegedly used his imagery for “The Blacker The Berry” artwork without his consent. Due to alleged unauthorized use of the controversial image above, the photographer is looking to cash in approximately $150,000 for the “damages”.

Really, I hope it’s resolved soon because, like many other loyal fans, I’ve spent many hours of my life on that page and I don’t want it to stop now.

BJ The Chicago Kid  has just released a flipped-around version of his hometown lord Kanye West‘s track, “Can’t Hold My Liquor.” BJ’s version is stripped down and really becomes the artists own; however, the main components that make this a signature track of Yeezus still remain. While West’s version is menacing and raw, BJ’s is bleak and mechanic.

In the official music video, produced by Jerome D, BJ woozy from the liquor wanders around the dark, blue-lit streets in a blurry haze carrying a bottle of Hennessy. Halfway through the song, wailing guitar cuts through the drunken reverie and brings back a feeling of urgency and fear to the track.

This is not the first contact BJ has made with West: recall when the two Chicagoans worked together on 2009’s “Impossible,” also featuring Twista and Keyshia Cole. BJ is a regular favorite at Top Dawg Entertainment, having collaborated with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock.

It’s hard to say which version of “Can’t Hold My Liquor” is better. Which version is your favorite?
