Recently, The Black Opera (the artistic collective with roots from Nigeria, Uganda, Madagascar, France and the United States) have released “Sacred Cow”, a new self-produced record that introduces new member Johnny Void which explores the topics of injustice, belief and trust. The group has an affinity for embedding real topics into their verses and crafting or utilizing production that keeps them “hip” in today’s competitive musical landscape. Listen to the carefully and skillfully written verses by Jamall Bufford (formerly Buff1), Magestik Legend, Obie Iyoha and Johnny Void below:

The Black Opera continues to be one of the more mysterious groups in hip-hop, however they also remain to be one of the most consistent.

They’re back with their latest record, this time featuring Mayer Hawthorne. The smooth record finds everyone breaking down their own criteria for their queen. Here’s how they tell it:

“While in search of his Queen of Hearts, or some would say, KUEENZ of Heart, the King was not very trusting with any of his beautiful possibilities. Once he learned how to trust himself, then and only then, was he able to trust and L O V E Without A Limit.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the mysterious outfit, The Black Opera, is giving its latest offering “Queen of Hearts.” The song, which is off their most recent Libretto: Of King Legend features the smooth vocals of Mayer Hawthorne. The track speaks to determining who or what is perfect for you in a relationship. The Black Opera describes the song as:

“While in search of his Queen of Hearts, or some would say, KUEENZ of Heart, the King was not very trusting with any of his beautiful possibilities. Once he learned how to trust himself, then and only then, was he able to trust and L O V E Without A Limit.”

If you still have not, make sure to purchase The Black Opera‘s latest installment Libertto: Of King Legend, out now via Mello Music Group here.
