North Carolina rapper Rapsody will be hitting the road this year in support her latest effort titled Eve. The impressive lyricist rightfully named the tour A Black Woman Created This, remaining parallel to the theme of her sophomore album. Moreover, Eve circles around women empowerment and freedom amongst other things. The tour kicks off on February 4 in Philadelphia with the final stop being March 13 in Raleigh, NC where she resides.

Joining Rapsody on tour is rapper and producer Niko Brim, an emerging talent making noise in New York. Without a doubt, this irrefutable talent has catapulted his career to the next level organically landing himself on some major stages as a part of the ABWCT line-up. Niko is set to take the stage by storm for the tour’s stop in Brooklyn, NY 2/6, New Haven, CT 2/9 and Burlington, VT 2/11. Check out the tour dates here.

Rapsody (and Hip-Hop fans) rejoice: the North Carolinian lyricist will soon be releasing her new album EVE, the official follow-up to the criminally-slept-on Laila’s Wisdom. First, she delivers the new single “IBTIHAJ,” which features assistance from music legends GZA and D’Angelo; while the song pays homage to the women who paved the way before her, the title itself is named after Ibtihaj Muhammad, who became the first Muslim American to compete in a hijab during the 2016 Summer Olympics:

Women been leading the way, since Roxanne Shante
And the Unit had Flav and Jay had Marcy neighbors that waved
Lookin’ confused, I be like “Cool, maybe it’s age”
When I see afro puffs, I think maybe it’s Rage

Above lies a recent single by Alex Da Kid titled “Go,” which sees the super-producer eschewing the usual Pop/commercial sensibilities for a more soulful, alcohol-infused collaboration with H.E.R. and Rapsody. Below, he ups the ante by adding UK’s Jorja Smith to the laid-back cut. Either way, the single is dope; very hopeful that Alex Da Kid will continue down this lane moving forward.

Rapture tells the story of nine remarkable artists who above all made sure that the scale tipped in their favor. The critically acclaimed Netflix original was created not only for the fans, but for the culture, giving a break down of the evolution of Hip-Hop in 2018.

Throughout the docuseries, we’re given a glimpse of what it takes to become an artist (from choosing the right instrumental) to even writing down a full set of lyrics throughout the long process. Amongst all of the top tier artists, Dave East, Nas, Rapsody, G-Eazy, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Logic, Just Blaze, T.I. and 2 Chainz stepped up to the plate. A lot of the time, the majority of artists expressed that — if not for music — their destinys would have never turned out so well.

Being able to be truthful tell a real story through music has always been the motive; being able to have the average person relate is the essence of Hip-Hop. Music has proven to be one of the most influential forms of art, with the power to unite people together. The Rapture soundtrack is made up of six-tracks that give you a variation of elements (Trap, mumble rap and lyricism).

The opportunity to be able to stamp that exact moment in history. Following the series, it’s only customary that all these artists come together for one project. You can stream the project below.

Rapsody continues to deliver visuals from her critically-acclaimed release Laila’s Wisdom. Her latest clip is for the Khrysis-produced “Pay Up,” which sees Rapsody hanging out with friends at a house party, interspersed with an apparent relationship going through the motions, cinema-style. It’s honestly a little bit reminiscent of Fugees‘ “Killing Me Softly” video for some reason (maybe it’s just me).

Anyways, check out “Pay Up” above.
