South Memphis native Co Cash is buzzing by releasing his latest project, F.A.C.T.S, that has had the city going crazy. He was recently on a tour with fellow Memphian Yo Gotti for The Fans via Tidal. “GoLdEn TicKET” rapper had a fire performance and it is what we needed with the release of his project. We caught up with the “TaKe tWo” artist and discussed about his experiences while on tour, his album, F.A.C.T.S., relationship with Tay Keith and more.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx0OJgin0JH/?igshid=tsjlkux3zq9v

RESPECT.: What was your experience like while touring with Yo Gotti on the four shows?

It was very good to experience and feeling to different crowds. I was testing the waters.

RESPECT.: Have you gotten any new fan base since the show?

Yes, the fans knew about me and was vibing to my music.

RESPECT.: What is one song you like to perform in front of your fans? Why?

I would say “Cash Day.” Everyone loves the song. The song is a vibe and it shows how my flow is and how the beat switches up.

RESPECT.: How did you get the artist name?

It was my nickname. I originally went by Rico Dinero and thought it was too much so I had changed it the end of 2017 to Co Cash. Co is part of my real name and cash is self explanatory.

RESPECT.: With your recent visual “TaKe tWo,” what was the concept of the video?

It was a straightforward and wanted to match the energy with the track. I felt like my fans needed to see me rap.

RESPECT.: Define RESPECT.

Giving credit to where it’s due.

RESPECT.: Why did you name the project? What was the reason or message behind it?

F.A.C.T.S is a mixtape whose title stands for FUCK A CRITIC I’m THE SHIT. That’s the message I try to convey in all my music. Don’t worry about other people’s opinions and listen to people hating—you know what you’re doing. I wanted it to be a positive message.

RESPECT.: What is your relationship with TayKeith? I seen he produced most of the project?

We are brothers. We have been working together since 2013. He has done most of my production of all my projects. We met on social media. Back then, everyone knew I was rapping in the city and he was making beats. He reached out to me, and ever since then, we have worked together.

RESPECT.: With Memphis being on the scene in regards to music, do you think it will be bigger in the next year or two?

Yes, the numbers shows different creatives coming out of Memphis. It is growing so fast and we are creating a fan base within the city.

RESPECT.: What song would you play to a fan who hasn’t heard your music and why?

“TaKe tWo” or “no COMPETiTiON” because you can listen to how I am coming by the style and message of the music.

RESPECT.: What will be next for you?

There will be singles and an album that will be on the way later in the year. I will be performing in Memphis later in the month.

Last week, Yo Gotti dropped his eighth studio album The Art of Hustle (which didn’t disappoint). The album, sticking true to the North Memphis rapper’s street knowledge over booming bass, featured an array of artists including Future, Lil Wayne, E-40 and K. Michelle. But, arguably the most praised featured verse has gone to G.O.O.D. Music president Pusha T’s assistance on the track ‘Hunnid’ and now, there is a visual to match.

The sleek black-and-white clip, by which represents Push and Gotti’s sophisticated-streetesque persona, showcases the finest luxury items most rappers possess and/or live by; metaphoric snow, a couple models and stacks of money. Both Memphis and Virginia collide to aggressively deliver a gritty street anthem, while well-known-director Kid Art’s frigid cinematography using as less color as possible helps bring the Honorable C. N.O.T.E. instrumental to life. The powderly clip symbolizes simplicity in such a stark way, it works.

Gotti has been on a roll, recently performing his biggest hit thus far in his career ‘Down in the DM’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live alongside famous drummer and former Blink-182 member, Travis Barker. Barker isn’t a stranger to the hip-hop realm, though. The drummer has worked with respectable OG’s in the game including Lil Wayne, The Game, Rick Ross and Swizz Beatz. After their late night appearance, Gotti flew to 1OAK for his album release party where he partied, played his album and even allowed The Life of Pablo‘s own, Kanye West to premiere a new song (but not without listening to him rant, of course).

The CMG head honcho does not plan on slowing down his 15-year career. Gotti confirms that he’s working on turning “The Art of the Hustle” into a feature film project. The Commercial Appeal Memphis confirmed:

“We’re doing a film; it’s been scripted out. We’ve been working on that for a while. It’s early, but we’re looking to get started this year. Got a lot of people helping me like (Epic chairman and CEO) L.A. Reid. 50 Cent, who’s been involved in a lot of films, I’m having discussions with him. There’s a few people on the table to be involved. I want my family to have lot of input, too, because this is about things they lived out.”

This psychological YouTube thriller takes a journey through the mind of Raider Klan rapper Dcnzel Curry. The LVND, as Curry calls it, is what would happen if Lord Infamous and Koopsta Knicca of Three Six Mafia directed their own black-and-white, scary, musical movie set in the hoods of the Florida. The video’s story line comes from the combination of three Denzel Curry Songs joined by visuals that can only be described as raw, dark, twisted and fantastic. So if you’re into cult classic horror films like the 1979 flick Phantasm or Raider Klan’s low-fi Memphis revival sound, then the LVND is something you need to check out.

Though we can’t vouch for the production value of this video, we can tell you that Lil Lody is doing some pretty interesting things down in Memphis. For one, he’s the dude with the most records on Jeezy’s Thug Motivation 103, with 5 production credits. He can also rap, which is evident after about a minute and a half of this video… What appears to be ‘just another trap hook’ mutates into a 2 minute long verse which actually has some clever punchlines. We suppose the dude’s beats are just so damn fine he can’t not jump on them.
