Los Angeles-bred MC, Johnny Crown is showing his love for Black women with his new single, “Isis.”

Serving as the first single off of his upcoming EP, Untitled, “Isis” serves as a way for Johnny Crown to honor and empower women, something the multidimensional artist states is missing from today’s music.

“This song is for my ladies that are constantly working hard and taking care of their business, it doesn’t matter if you are a stripper or a Fortune 500 CEO,” Johnny Crown said. “This is what The Goddess Isis embodied. The totality.”

Best described as Modern Hip-Hop, Crown’s sound is soothing and nourishing to the listener’s ears while providing smooth lyrics over innovative and at times eclectic beats that always manage to keep your head bobbing and your toes tapping and that isn’t by accident. According to Johnny Crown, his music serves as both therapy and a self-empowering soundtrack to help not only women but everyone learn to live a less fearful life.

“’The coolest prince in the jungle’ is an Afrobeat influenced album and “Shine your light” was an awakening album and the latest album ‘Fear don’t live here anymore’ is an affirmation of the times where there is a pandemic and everyone is scared and panicking,” Crown continued. “I’m basically injecting Love into our atmosphere through the vibration of music with the intention to eradicate fear.”

A proven talented musician, Johnny Crown is also a comic book creator, kids book author, actor, a stand-up comic also a mentor for Tina’s Angels and Richard’s Warriors a non-profit organization created by Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles-Lawson and her husband veteran Black Hollywood legend, Richard Lawson.

With his iron striking hot in multiple facets within the entertainment industry, Johnny Crown is on his journey to the top, as he places a “Crown” on himself within Hip-Hop.

Los Angeles bred rapper Trip Rexx is definitely different.

Bringing the psychedelic vibe to the Cali swag to create a style of his own. Combining modern Hip-Hop with some of the sounds and aesthetics of psychedelic rock, Trip Rexx’s new album, Space Rock, has already racked up almost 100K streams on Spotify after only one week.

Grateful for the support, Rexx took to Instagram to thank fans for the record-breaking numbers.

“I’m grateful for every damn thing ??”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CCjWDGYD7Po/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Building off the success of his underground singles “Rock n’ Roll” and “I WAS DRUNK”, Trippy Rexx is adding to his catalog with the release of the music video for “10-4.” In addition to dropping visuals, Rexx is also blessing the streets with a full-length project that includes 9 brand new songs and features production from Grammy-nominated producer Rey Reel.

Described by many listeners as a “no-skip” album, Space Rock supplies the missing link between acid-washed 60s psychedelia and codeine-drenched 21st-century rap.

Check out the video for “10-4” below and follow Trip Rexx online here.

The Sean Ross produced track definitely shows James Kaye has been inspired by the music of Saint Jhn and The Weekend but in a unique way of creating an all-new style of his own.

The LA-based crooner’s style can only be defined as an eccentric blends R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, and good vibes. After his industry debut single, “Coconut”, received more than one million streams, it’s clear that Kaye has hit a unique vein with his new sound. After being featured on MTV for his song and music video for “Silver and Gold” with DJ Pauly D, James Kaye is finally out in front creating his own wave as an exciting new artist to watch.

Los Angeles’ roster is stacked with buzzing new artists from 1TakeJay to Rucci. Who better to put together a project than super-producer Mike Almighty. The L.A.-native has produced for several artists in the city with music dating all the way back to 2009. “My parents had writing credits when I was younger so that’s when I saw that trident,” Almighty remarks about his early influences in music.

The Crenshaw-native has hit records with Cozz (“Bonnie and Clyde”), Correy C (“Foreign Girl”), Rucci (“Light It Up”), and many more. A song is nothing without a good beat and Mike Almighty acknowledges that on his forthcoming release, Flood. “The city knows, but those who don’t know are going to find out from this project,” Mike notes. The album boasts features from many artists that anyone from the outside looking in may not know of.

Mike Almighty recently shared his debut single, “Like This,” featuring two the most prominent artists from Los Angeles. On the West Coast banger, Rucci and BlueBucksClan trade verses about their success and impact. On the song’s opening verse, Rucci can be heard rapping: “Aye, this beat bang, Mike Almighty.” Peep our interview below.

How did you get started in the music industry?

Shout out to my mom and dad, they actually were making music when I was younger. They had writing credits when I was younger so that’s when I saw that trident. From that, I started playing the keyboards. Right around that time was the Jerking movement or whatever, and me and my friends make some songs. The first beat that I gave someone, I don’t want to say it was a hit, but it did pretty well. It’s called “Bad Chick Alert” and made some buzz. From that, a nigga got a deal and started work with Miguel and Cozz. Everything just came from that so shout out to them.

You dropped Free Wifi with Correy C back in 2015, can we expect another joint project between you two?

For sure. Definitely in the works. Me and Correy C got tons of music in the works. We were actually on the phone talking about when we were going to that for the city. A lot of people been hitting us about asking “when is that going to drop?” We’re definitely going to work on that, guaranteed.

Recently, you dropped your debut single, “Like This,” with Rucci and BlueBucksClan. How did that collaboration come about?

I started work with Rucci about two or three years ago. We made songs like “Light It Up,” “Taxi,” and other unreleased songs. That was just a phone call away. BlueBucksClan really started to blow up five, six months ago. As soon as I saw that, I reached out like “yo, come get in the studio. I got some beats for yall.” They tapped back in. It turns out, the first session, Rucci wanted to do a show with them and BlueBucks wanted to do a song with him. What better do it than on a Mike Almighty beat.

Shout out to everybody for making it happen. “Like This” out now on iTunes, Soundcloud, and every other major streaming platform.

How did you come up with the album title Flood? What’s the inspiration behind the entire project?

Well, I came up with the album title based off the Noah story. Really simple. I’m spiritual so when it comes to Noah, i feel like I had a connection with him because of the waves and water. I found somebody I feel like I can relate to in the bible. The story is very self-explanatory. He, I went around, saying “there’s a flood coming.” Not everybody listened to him and not everyone listened to me, and what happened, a flood came. Whoever isn’t on the boat is going to drown.

The inspiration came from my team. They would be like “yo, Mike, you’re a loner. You never come out, but every time you do, it’s a wave.” I had to capitalize off of that.

Who, or what, can we expect on your debut album?

You can expect most of the buzzing artists in the city doing their thing. I don’t want to say too many names because I don’t want it to spoil it. From Rucci to 1TakeJay to AzChike to Petty Petty, and Correy C of course. District Boyz might be on there. Hopefully, Ambjaay, he just responded to my DM a while back.

You can expect comradery. Everyone is in there bag right now, it’s the industry. It seems like with this circle right here in L.A.: District Boyz, Winning Team, Makk & Co., Az Cult. Everybody is just working together and it’s hard to divide right now. Everyone is genuinely fucking with each other. The city knows, but those who don’t know are going to find out from this project.

What’s one thing you’re hoping people will take away from your project?

Like I said, the comradery. I want them to see the teamwork, and if anything, the production. Even though everyone has the rhythm, I want them to see that I brought the sound. I want them to say “Mike did a good job, he actually did an album instead of putting a bunch of artists on a project.” That’s what I want them to take away from the project.

Let’s talk about the state of Los Angeles music culture. There’s Casey Veggies, Cozz, Dom Kennedy, and many more, how would you describe it?

Shit, bro. I would say it’s in the right hands. It’s a lot more artists out here and it’s dope. I feel like the rap scene is very similar to the NBA. Every year, there’s someone different. The top artists are always going to remain the star players, but each year there’s another young nigga doing there thing. It’s just like that. Zion came in, AD got traded. I think everyone just needs to keep working hard to perfect their craft. Whatever team you can find to put you in the right situation, that’s where you need to be.

Dom is kind of older, but at the end of the day, he hasn’t been in the industry very long. That nigga is one of the greatest rappers in Los Angeles. He kind of put a culture vibe on us. I feel like even he knows that it’s in the good hands. It’s eras, but I feel like he has a lot in his bag. In time, it may be someone else. Just like Ambjaay, Blueface, District Boyz, there’s always going to be someone new. It’s time to embrace the next person. Just how they did K. Dot.

Outside of music, what are your goals for this year?

Shit, I’m a dad first. Taking care of my family, putting them in the right position to win. Making sure my family is straight. Other than that, pushing my agenda. I really can’t say outside of music because that’s the base of everything. I’m trying to put Flood on the map and put my team in position.

Hailing from the city of Los Angeles, Kyle Banks emerged onto the scene in late-2018 with his debut single, “Time Go.” The visual-accompanied song illustrates the potential carried by the rising R&B star, who describes his music as “genuine.” That same year, he served as an opener for Phora‘s Love Is Hell tour. In March, Kyle released his follow-up single, “Calabasas,” in anticipation of his forthcoming debut release Vulnerable.

Earlier this year, Kyle Banks joined Dreamville for the recording sessions of their highly-anticipated compilation album, Revenge of the Dreamers III. Kyle describes the experience as “beautiful,” having the chance to observe how other artists and producers create content. Not only did these encounters build connections, but served as fuel for his forthcoming releases. Check out our interview with him below.

Talk to me about your roots coming up in Los Angeles. When did you first take hold it music and develop a sound of your own?

So you know growing up in L.A., you know, you see a lot of crazy stuff. A lot of people don’t have many decisions, they either play sports, make music, or do other stuff. So you see a lot of stuff you don’t really want to see. I grew up playing basketball and I got into music not even on purpose, more on some “let me see how this goes.” I remember I got kicked out of school and my boy at the time who makes music, I just wanted to see what it’s about. I decided to pull up on him and go to the studio sessions, then we ended up making one of the hottest songs out that year. From then on, I decided to I was going to do music.

Walk me through your childhood, who were your musical influences?

As a child, my mom and dad, they were older so they would play Michael Jackson and Jahiem. I just began to like old music, not just because I liked it, but I heard it all the time.

When do you feel most inspired to create music?

I feel most inspired to do music when I’m around other artists. When they’re inspiring me to try new melodies and add different rifts and rafts in the song or whatever the case may be. I might hear something on the radio when I’m driving or I may just jot in my notes and I come to the studio.

Let’s talk music, you released your debut single “Time Go” in December. Where were you at in life when you recorded that single?

When I released “Time Go,” I was in a vulnerable state of my life. I had just got out of a situation and I was heard. I did what I knew how to do best, record. And that’s what I did, I just put what I was going through like a diary.

How do you want people to respond to your music?

When people hear my music I want them to understand it’s real, nothing is made up. I want them to understand it’s genuine and get a feel for it. I feel like everybody goes through some point where they were hurt or down, they were vulnerable. And it’s okay, sometimes you have to admit when you wrong and move on.

At the top of the year, you attended the Revenge of the Dreamers III recording sessions, how was that experience?

The Revenge of the Dreamers camp, it was a crazy experience. It was crazy talent from all over the world. I saw how people recorded. I saw how people created and it was a beautiful thing. And I just remember being up damn near twenty-four hours of the day, all day, no sleep for two days. Not even realizing you haven’t slept or ate because you’re having so much fun and it’s just so much inspiration going on. When I got back to Los Angeles, I just realized I had to go that much harder because it’s so much talent out there.

Is there anyone in particular that you shared great chemistry with?

In the music industry, I’ve come across a lot of cool people. But my team, Mittee Gang, we got chemistry that, not only do we make music, we damn near brothers. Everything we do is for the best. Nobody makes selfish decisions, everything is genuinely for the best. We all support each other music like it’s our own. I support everybody’s music in the camp like I’m dropping it myself.

I feel like that’s what makes us different from a lot of people. We’ll tell each other “that songs not hot, do it over” or “that beat sucks.” Whatever the case is, we keep everything real. Honestly, that’s the key, being surrounded by real people. You can’t grow if people are constantly lying, you know.

Talk to us about your forthcoming project, Vulnerable, what can we expect?

I can’t even tell you how excited I am, I feel like when it drops, it’s going to say a lot. I feel like it’s doing a lot plus more. Right now, we’re impatient. I feel like maybe a good time to drop would be my birthday month. So you know, just stay ready for that.

What are your goals for the year?

My goal this year is to just be known. My music everywhere is speaking for itself and I feel like it will, so stay tuned. All Hits, Mittee Gang. Kyle Banks, I’m out.
