After the longest drought in sports history, baseball is finally back. While stadiums across the country will be missing the fanfare that normally comes with Opening Day each year, Buffalo Wild Wings is celebrating the return of America’s pastime by recreating the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a ballpark INSIDE its sports bars. The activation will begin at the BWW outside of Washington’s stadium in D.C. this Thursday and move to other cities around the league as the season progresses.
Even while we’re practicing social distancing in our bars (staying 6 ft apart, limited to 50% capacity, wearing masks) we can still enjoy the rituals we’ve all come to love. You can find more details below, and full background on the program HERE.
- BEER VENDORS: With stadiums empty to start the year, beer vendors are out of work… so Buffalo Wild Wings hired some of the country’s most famous beer vendors to sling cold ones in sports bars. On Thursday night, legendary purveyors of beer Perry Hahn aka “RoboVendor” (Washington), Clarence Haskett aka “Fancy Clancy” (Baltimore) and Todd Georgelas (Washington) will be serving them up at a BWW in D.C. Bios on the beer vendors can be found HERE.
ORGANIST: To keep the sounds of the game alive, B-Dubs hired Washington’s organist, Matthew Van Hoose. He’ll be bringing his talents and the real-deal organ to BWW on Opening Day.
- HELMET O’WINGS: Fans will be able to eat wings out of the small plastic baseball helmets that have become synonymous with ballparks.
- NEW AD CREATIVE: To celebrate the return of sports, Buffalo Wild Wings will debut a new :60 spot on ESPN during the Washington/New York game that features beer vendor “Fancy Clancy.”
