Rising Atlanta-based artist The Bonfyre is taking over the Urban Adult Contemporary charts with her soulful single, “Automatic”.

Backed by a beat so smooth it’s hypnotizing, The Bonfyre shows exactly how magnetic love is as she pulls in her fan base like a moth to a flame.

“‘Automatic’ is all about knowing what you want, no games, no chase,” The Bonfyre explained to Billboard during the video premiere. “Let’s get straight to it because this is what I want and I’m sure.”

Discovered by Raphael Saadiq, The Bonfyre recently signed to L.A. Reid‘s new music label HITCO and is already hitting the music waves running. This soulful and flavorful act is a force to be reckoned with, as her name says it all.

As to why she chose the name, “The Bonfyre”, the songstress explained that her concept was simple, “all are welcome.”

“Everything should sound and feel like a bonfire,” the songstress said. “When I think of a bonfire, it’s super inviting and fun. All are welcome. Bonfyre is relatable and touchable, but she’s not your normal, average girl.”

Opening with the occasional glance that led to the magnetic attraction, we see The Bonfyre wondering what if as her love interest decides to pursue the same thought as he doubles back into the store to get one more glance.

We recently chopped it up with a rising artist out of the Southern rap hotbed of Atlanta, Georgia. Enter Kodie Shane, an artist that is a part of Lil Yachty‘s Sailing Team clique. Kodie has recently gained a ton of attention from her stand out verse in the group’s posse cut, “All in.”

Shortly after, Kodie was verbally attacked by fans of the Philly star Lil Uzi Vert, claiming she stole Uzi’s sound, although Kodie continues to rise above the hate by releasing her latest single, “Hold Up,” which features both Yachty and Uzi. We caught up with Kodie after all the recent success to check out what she’s been working on lately.

RESPECT:Where are you from ?

Kodie Shane: I was born in Atlanta, but I was raised in the south suburbs of Chicago.

RESPECT: How old are you ?

KS: 300.

RESPECT: 300 ? [Laughs]

KS: Yeah that’s how old I am.

RESPECT: How did you get the name Kodie Shane because your original name was the Don Baby?

KS: Well, Kodie Shane is my real name and I got Don Baby from a movie.

RESPECT: How long have you been making music ? I ask because when I was researching you I was surprised to see how much of a discography that you already have.

KS: I have been making music since I was about 14. But you wouldn’t know how long that is because I’m 300 years old. Just know it’s a long time cause I’m old.

RESPECT: The first time I ever heard of you was in the “All in” record that was on Yachty’s latest project? Your apart of his crew “The Sailing Team” So how did you meet Yachty ?

KS: I knew Yachty’s manager Coach K before I knew him directly. The first time I met Yachty, I believe we were at one of his shows at the Masquerade in Atlanta. It was my first time seeing Yachty, and I went up to Coach and introduced myself again. Two days later, I told Coach that I wanted to put Yachty on a song that I had just finished called “Sad.” After he agreed to do that feature for me we started hanging out and our friendship grew from there.

RESPECT: The next song that I heard from you was “Losing Service,” the single off your latest EP Little Rocket. Can you talk about what that track means to you right now?

KS: Oh man, “Losing Service” is my song. It gets the crowd lit whenever I perform it. The video was also awesome to shoot. I’ve got something special coming soon for the track, as well.

RESPECT: I also just saw that you recently just dropped your latest single “Hold Up “featuring Lil Uzi Vert and Yachty.

KS: Yeah, I just premiered “Hold Up” on Complex about an hour ago. That record is lit and I’m always glad to have Uzi and Yachty on there.

RESPECT: This has been a big week for you then. This new single and you recently inked a deal with LA Reid’s Epic records. Can you speak on the details of the partnership?

KS: I love my deal with Epic and I love LA. I met Reid the day I got my deal at a showcase in Atlanta that he was at. A lot of people actually don’t know that he was there and we met.

RESPECT: You have gained a good bit of attention from people on the internet comparing your sound to Lil Uzi Vert or Famous Dex. Especially on your record “Drip On My Walk.” What do you say those who criticized you as just an imitation?

KS: I had woke up one day, made that song and then after that I heard Dex’s version and still put it out. I don’t really care if you think I am out here trying to rap like Uzi or “steal their swag.” Then you have only heard one record from me.

RESPECT: You just finished your first tour with the Sailing Team? How was your experience?

KS: The tour was great. I mean, I’m a girl who was with like 12 dudes, so that was a thing, but it was a good time.

RESPECT: A favorite stop on the tour?

KS: D.C. was singing my music like they were the only place where I could turn off the music and here them. It was lit.

RESPECT: What’s next for Kodie Shane?

KS: I don’t really like to tell people what’s next, but the Sailing Team compilation tape will be out really soon. Just know that I’m really focused on this music right now.
