Rob Markman Delivers Powerful New Visual for “I Don’t Wanna Wait”

Hip-Hop is sacred: not only for the artists and musicians that honor the pillars, but also for the storytellers that help bring the culture into the mainstream. This isn’t always an “if you can’t do, teach” situation; the path many journalists take don’t end their personal passions for creating music. Case in point: the highly-revered Rob Markman, who has reported on Hip-Hop on various formats (currently, via Genius) and has decided to bring his musical vision to reality with the new album Write To Dream. While many of his Rap peers (ie. DJ Khaled, Wiz Khalifa, Royce Da 5’9) show support on the project, it’s incredible to see how Markman stands all his own, displaying a style of flow and subject matter that keeps with tradition while showcasing a transparency into the life of the man behind the pen (however that pen is used).

Adding to Write To Dream comes a new visual for “I Don’t Wanna Wait,” which features Kirby Maurier and sees production from living legends Justice L.E.A.G.U.E. The Rook-directed clip sees Markman leaning on his faith in church — which he explained to 2DopeBoyz:

I didn’t get baptized until I was 22. It was after my cousin passed away and my best friend had his daughter and asked me to be Godfather. I won’t say I’m a deeply religious person, but I’ve always found comfort and peace in church. I wanted the music video to have that same peace, so I reached out to the video director Rook and he brought the song to life.

KIRBY MAURIER TALKS HER NEW ALBUM “DOING THE MOST”

Hailing from Miami, Kirby Maurier streamed her new album, “Doing the Most” on multiple media platforms and caught up with RESPECT. to say a few things about the project: “This time, I got the chance to give listeners a opportunity to get to know me. My first project,” Class of 96″ was an EP, however, it had the vibe of a mixtape because none of the music was original. This time around all of the music is fresh and specifically created to coincide with my lyrics. I’m just finally making the music that reflects my personality. I feel like I’m finally able to move away from what people expect R&B artists to sing about, look like, etc.” Songs like “Fa Sho” and “On It” are new fan favorites while “Iz U Wit It” remains her reigning anthem. “All of the songs were inspired by whatever I’d been feeling the day I wrote them. For example, one day I’d been feeling as though the people who I always showed love to and went out of the way for just didn’t feel the need to return the same energy to me, so I lowkey questioned myself like, “am I not showing them enough love? Am I showing it but they’re taking it as a sign of weakness?” That’s when I wrote the song “Fa Sho.” The singer speaks on working with her favorite producer, Vegas Fontaine, and how she “vibed with him so hard” that she is super excited about the album. “Doing The Most” is available for download on iTunes – HERE

NEW MUSIC: “DOING THE MOST” by KIRBY MAURIER

Miami’s very own Kirby Maurier is releasing her first album and she has some great things planned for it. The singer is well known for her 2010 Miami hit “You” ft. Ace Hood (click to listen). The new album will consist of 9 tracks written by Kirby and her team. Read Kirby’s official press release below:

‘The highly anticipated album, ’Doing The Most’ is set for worldwide digital release on July 31st. “This album is like having a conversation with me,” says Kirby about the album’s content. “Doing The Most” is just a fun album and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

Kirby will also award fans and supporters who pre-order the album. Everyone who pre-orders and sends proof of their pre-order will have their name added to the album’s liner notes in a special “Thank You” section (Email: doingthemost@valholla.com). Liner notes will be available digitally and a limited number of physical albums will be produced after the album is released. Amazon will also offer Physical albums on demand. The album consist of help from producers Vince Valholla and Vegas Fontaine.
