After tearing up the net with this years’ “Jimmy Butler,” Midwest native King Kap has been on an absolute tear.  Checking back in with us, he returns with his new single, “I’m Dreaming,” which gives a deeper look into the thoughts behind who King Kap is.

Set to the tone of warped samples and melodic hi-hats, Kap let’s off about everything from preserving money and making a plan, to ditching said plan and blowing it all, hoping the next payday is near in sight. Kap’s been a busy man lately on all fronts, as he’s established getting his clothing line, OTW, off the ground as well as gearing up to release his new EP, 4 No RZN.

A couple months back, we introduced you guys to an energetic emcee from the Midwest named King Kap. After heating the internet up with his early 2018 hit, “Jimmy Butler,” the QC affiliate is back with the visuals for the song, which gives the track a whole new life.

Capitalizing off the energy, the video highlights Kap & co partying in a backroom with triply effects that compliment the high octane song perfectly. With new music coming with Pet Zebra, Ye Ali & of course Mark Battles, it’s no surprise that King Kap is starting to catch a buzz around the industry. Hop on the bandwagon before it’s too late.

Indiana has something to say, specifically Indianapolis. While artists like Freddie Gibbs from Gary have been building a hype behind the state — and region as a whole — Indianapolis native Mark Battles has been quietly starting an army. After breaking through with former Fly America member Dereck Luh, as well as his own, up and coming artist King Kap has been taking advantage of every opportunity. After co-headling a tour with the group, the Midwest native releases, FRESCO, an emphatic, “Hello” to the industry.

With a solid sound that’s self-described as, “restoring the feeling,” Kap and producer Tyjuan collaborate to create a highly enjoyable album. Set at what I believe is the perfect number of tracks for a project, which is ten, FRESCO may not be as personal–which may come later–but what it lacks in self-examination, it more than makes up for in bravado, melodies and just pure fun. Songs like, “In The Lobby” & “Lit Lit” have the potential to be fan favorites, while “Disorted Luv” is the one that highlights some of Kap’s potential as a songwriter.

After standing out on the Fly America complation, The Collective, Kap has hinted at more videos for songs like, “I Need It” and the fan favorite, “Jimmy Butler.” Couple that with another tour that kicks off tomorrow in Chicago and first week sales that rivaled another buzzing up and comer, Futuristic, it’s apparent that Kap’s strong online presence is paying off.
