San Diego has a distinct culture all it’s own. While cities like Los Angeles, Oakland & Long Beach are renowned culture hubs, San Diego has sort of always been the stepchild of the popular California cities when it comes to musical recognition. Lately, this hasn’t been the case though. With cats like Rob $tone, John Givez & Rossi Rock pushing the envelope, fellow 619 native TC DOE! continues his heat streak with the Joey Fatts assisted single, “Rockin.”

Layered over solid, G-Funk inspired production from DJONTHETRACK, “Rockin” is a laid back, yet lyrically clever joint that serves as an appetizer for more to come from TC. After gaining some steam online with previous releases, it’s only a matter of time before he breaks through.

The wait is over as Joey Fatts drops his anticipated, self-produced project “Ill Street Blues.” This seven track mixtape (originally slated as an album) features all original production from Joey Fatts as well as “Same Shit” featuring Curren$y and “Everybody” with R&B/alternative artist JMSN. Joey Fatts has been bubbling for quite some time now, hopefully this will be the project that sends him over the top.

Long Beach rapper Joey Fatts remembers the life of his friend, A$AP Yams, honoring the late artist’s memory with new track “Stevie’s World”.
The California rapper has been very vocal following Yams death, and took to social media to clear up rumors about his death.

My brother ain’t die from no overdose. Fuck all you bitch niggas. My brother had severe sleep apnea. And was killing you fuck boys daily.

If you’ve been paying attention, the past 4 months have been full of three-man collaborations. Drake, 2 Chainz and Big Sean got together for “All Me,” Casey Veggies, Earl and Vince Staples got together for “Hive” and Joey Fatts, A$AP Rocky and Danny Brown got together for “Choppa.” Then of course, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica got together for “Control.” Clearly the three-man format is becoming the new standard. That was a joke.

All jokes aside though, E-40, Danny Brown and Schoolboy Q attack this unforgivably hyphy beat with unique yet complementary approaches. The video brings this interesting chemistry to life, even if it is in a somewhat standard way. Watch below and talk about this song more than “Control.”
