When it comes to sports, guy talk and the NBA Playoffs, objectively speaking, there’s no better man cave to discuss all of the above with than the crew that’s on the rise in the Windy City, The D & Davis Show.

The show which features two Chicago centered hosts in Kenneth Davis and Demonze Spruiel and their all-knowing producer Kyle Means, their Regal Radio brand that broadcasts at the Illinois School of Broadcasting on ChicagolandSportsRadio.com have been fixtures at places like WGN.

I’ve been rocking with these guys since I called in as an expert during my days at BrooklynFans.com during the 2013 NBA Playoffs when the Chicago Bulls took on the Brooklyn Nets.

The Bulls would end up winning the series with the heroics of Nate Robinson.

Five years later, we’re still going strong. Call ins talking LeBron James’ next destination and even having the honor of penning articles for their WeAreRegalRadio.com‘s platform with interviews with Naomi Campbell and Nelson Mandela’s daughter Zindzi Mandela about the Mandela biopic  as well as my chat with D.L. Hughley about what else? Race!

The group has been gracious allowing me to sit on their platform in studio while in town doing panels with Charismatic Solutions & Google and Swank PR.

It’s about family! 

It was no different over the weekend when I stopped by the D & Davis Show along with Detroit’s finest;  journalist, Montezz Allen, sports anchor and assistant producer at WBBM who was in studio promoting his book, Watch Your Words: How we should use our words to speak faith, victory and prosperity instead of evil, lack and discouragement.

Speaking of Rose, he was was in attendance and sitting courtside at the United Center for game 4 of the Chicago Bulls’ round one series against the Boston Celtics. When shown on the jumbotron, Bulls fans gave Rose a standing ovation.

B.J. Armstrong became a three time NBA champion during the 90s while playing point guard for the Chicago Bulls alongside Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant.

Years later he’s still leading the charge in hoops, but now on the business side. Armstrong represents Draymond Green, Derrick Rose and Donatas Motiejunas in negotiating player contracts.

Being a former player, Armstrong has a perspective that current players want to hear. That said, the Scoop B Radio Podcast team dug into the archives and found an interview from the 90’s with Armstong and Respect Mag’s Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson during Armstrong’s playing days with the Charlotte Hornets.

What’s cooler is how he brought LeBron James down to Earth after he won his third championship after the Cavs defeated the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. He was tired of James being compared to Michael Jordan so he spoke his mind. Armstrong believes that James has to adopt the mentality that comparing himself to any other player, including Jordan, is an insult.

“This is to LeBron James: If you want to be the best, get rid of the comparisons,” Armstrong told Fox Sports’ Chris Broussard over the summer. “Get rid of all the comparisons that are out there. That’s what Michael Jordan did. Jordan realized that in order to be the best, you had to get rid of all the comparisons.

Derrick Rose beat the rape allegations and the social media world went crazy, Chicago went crazy, New York went crazy, and D Rose fans everywhere went nuts. While it is widely known that everyone has their haters, there were many people that were not clapping for Derrick Rose as he got his photo taken with the judge as well as a member of the jury after found not guilty.

Many believe the trial wasn’t fair considering the fandom that took part after the case. Because rape culture is not a joking matter, it may seem irreverent that there are people congratulating and celebrating with him after such a dark case at hand. However, it is also important to note the fact that Derrick Rose is a well known NBA player with fans that supported himbefore the trial began and will continue to cheer him on after. Why the court sways in different favors is clearly above our pay grade. But as a free man, D Rose is free to do as he pleases.

After his many injuries, trade from his home state, and now a rape case, this year and the past few haven’t been the best. It’s understandable to crack a smile after beating those kinds of odds. S**t. I would, might even start praise dancing. So maybe we need to cut Derrick Rose some slack and let him be great again. The Knicks seem happy to have him and he seems even happier in his current position via his IG famous girlfriend’s post.
