Philadelphia artist, Chase Allen, shares his thoughts on past and recent events surrounding racial injustice in America.

Speaking first hand from a Black man in today’s society, he drops raw lyrics from his own experiences and personal thoughts of how he feels about how Black lives are treated in our so called, “Land of the free.”

With lyrics like: “Black man lives are being wasted,” “Wish I could talk about the block and the streets, or when that time my homie got shot by police,” and “All I could think was Marcus Garvey was right!” – we get reminded how so many Black injustices in this country go unnoticed in this high energy track.

Rising publicist Connie Banks is here to take the music industry by storm! Growing up in Los Angeles, California she grew accustomed to seeing her favorite artists becoming stars right before her eyes. This excitement eventually led her to pursue a career in radio, jumping start her desire to be a creative in the entertainment business. But that still was not enough for Banks. She decided that she wanted to be directly involved with an artists’ creative process, shining her focus to public relations.

Having worked with the likes of Eric Bellinger, Chase Allen and Her Imperial Highness Abimbola Fernandez, Connie Banks has the experience and talent to take over the entertainment business. I had the pleasure of catching up with the hotshot for candid interview. As she openly discusses finding her voice, and making a transition into the PR world, it is clear that her passion is unmatched. Check it out below.

Respect: What made you want to have a career in radio?

Connie Banks: Well to be honest, I wanted to be a singer but God didn’t bless me with those beautiful vocals except for when I’m in the shower ha. But growing up in Los Angeles I was always surrounded by dope upcoming artists that I felt should be heard, so I wanted to be that person that helped artists on the rise have a voice. When I was given the opportunity to be the producer for the show Ground Zero that caters to independent and upcoming artists, I was never so grateful.

Respect: How did you make the transition to public relations?

Connie: No one knows this but ….I lost the love for radio after making the hardest decision of my life. But I knew I wanted to still be apart of this industry. I have always been a dot connector just without the title “PUBLICIST”. My friends always tell me “I MAKE SHIT HAPPEN.” Plus, it made sense because I was interning for Chase Allen at OFF TOP Management and he gave me the opportunity to work with Eric Bellinger. I then picked up an internship with J.McKee & Co. to just really learn the ins and outs of being a publicist. Now 4 months later I closed my first tv development deal. To some it may not be a big deal but to me it is a BIG deal.

Respect: Can you share more about your work on the developmental side?

Connie: I can’t talk about it right now, but in due time I will be able to share it with you all.

Respect: What has been the most rewarding about the line of work that you do?

Connie: Honestly, seeing the people I work with happy and smiling because of something I did.

Respect: What is it like working with royalty, Her Imperial Highness Abimbola Fernandez?

Connie: ABIMBOLA!!! She is a different type of energy we actually started off as friends. My bestfriend KC introduced us at his mansion during a party in Beverly Hills and we have been inseparable ever since. Working with her is just amazing and I cannot wait for everyone to see what we have coming.

Respect: Before the year is out what do you hope to accomplish?

Connie: Honestly, I would like to speak on a panel before the year is out.

Respect: When did you find your voice as a professional?

Connie: Recently, after I shared an article that I was in and the feedback I received from people just made me feel like I belong here.

Chase Allen gives RESPECT. readers the first exclusive look at the brand new video for his single, “Nothing To Lose.”

From his upcoming debut album, Far From Home, Allen’s track is produced by Johann Sebastian and sees the rapper speaking from the heart on his own transitions. The video sees Allen wake up in the desert in the middle of nowhere as he raps about being fearless.

The Philly rapper is no doubt using the difficulties that he has had in his life to write his music. Previously, Chase Allen had been set to take up a football scholarship and attend college. However he was set back as he shattered his ankle in an accident.

Speaking exclusively to RESPECT. ahead of this world premiere, Chase Allen gave his views on the video:

“As you can see in the video, sometimes you are just out there all alone with nothing to lose but yourself and anything hindering you from your purpose. Live free, live fearless, with nothing to lose.”
