At the end of July, one half of hip-hop duo The Cool Kids, Sir Michael Rocks, released his first album, Banco. The album was the artist’s first solo commercial album, and featured Too $hort, Mac Miller, Twista, and Iamsu. 

In the tradition of hip/hop artists everywhere, Banco incorporated multiple skits. Today, Sir Michael Rocks released the official video for his “Cold Sore Skit,” one of three on the album. The visuals feature low-quality, goofy animations that are a sweet accompaniment to this silly skit. The cartoons are reminiscent of videos produced in basements for the entertainment of middle schoolers—in the absolute best way possible. Produced by Foreign Forest, this video is sure to bring the lol’s.

The long-awaited solo album from Sir Michael Rocks has finally received a release date. It has been awhile since we have heard new material from Mikey Rocks, with his last project, While You Wait…, having been released last year; but the rapper announced today that his album, Banco, will be released on July 29. The 16-song project will feature Mac Miller, Casey Veggies, Too Short, Chuck Inglish, and Trinidad James, as well as production by DJ Mustard. The Cool Kids rapper also premiered the album’s cover art (above) and the video for “Playstation 1.5.” Now that Banco is on the way, hopefully this means that The Cool Kids’ album, Shark Week, is just around the corner. Hanging out the window of a limo, Sir Michael Rocks swings through with tales of hook-ups, ballin’, sneaking liquor into movies theaters and general debauchery. The song is driven by RENO‘s warped instrumental, which drunkenly swerves in and out of traffic without ever losing momentum. Though it remains fairly static ,the organ, which is the primary element of this instrumental, asserts its presence throughout, forcing Sir Michael Rocks to fight for our attention. In other words, he’s hanging out the window for a reason. Listen below. “Memo” is the first song from SMR‘s upcoming debut album, Banco.
