Mr. Papers is a guy that you should be paying attention to. Born Jeremy Neil, the Bronx, NY native by way of Honduras, Mr. Papers recently released his latest project, “Transition.”

In between the hustle and bustle and the extended Fourth of July weekend, I caught up with Mr. Papers. We discussed the burden of representation of being a Bronx lyricist, co-parenting duties with the mother of his child, Lil Kim, his newly released “Transition” and his dream of working with Jay-Z and Rihanna.

Here’s The Scoop!

Scoop B: What inspired you to become a lyricist?

Mr. Papers: Once my big bro “Gangsta” died July 1, 2006 was the first day I picked up a pen and a pad and got busy! That was my inspiration.

Scoop B: Who were your biggest influences in hip hop?

Mr. Papers: My biggest influence in hip hop would probably be Fat Joe, Jadakiss 50 cent, Jay-Z, J. Cole. I f***s with Kevin Gates heavy!

Scoop B: As a lyricist and co-parenting with Lil Kim do you want people to separate that relationship and judge you based off your talent? Why or why not?

Mr. Papers: There is nothing to separate from. I can never be separate from her. She’s the mother of my daughter, but everybody knows my pen game is no joke. For people who don’t know they’re about to find out!

Scoop B: You’re a Bronx native. Lyrically, Bronx is making serious moves with the impact of Mysonne, Remy and Fat Joe? How do you fit in that equation with Bronx lyricists?

Mr. Papers: The Bronx is definitely in the building! And yeah I think I’m going to fit right in. I’m from a place where you gotta know how to “spit”.

Scoop B: Chat with me about your latest project?

Mr. Papers: I just dropped my first project on called “Transition.” It’s available on Tidal, iTunes, Spotify and everywhere else. This is really just about my story. It had to go down before we came up! The streets is f***ing with me! Know that!

Scoop B: You have a lot of pre-recorded music that you haven’t released. About how many songs do you have in the chamber?

Mr. Papers: Man, I got about 50 songs we just did. I’m in the kitchen putting it together. I got a big surprise for everybody by the end the the month! My next single is gonna be crazy!

Scoop B: Who is one artist you’d love to work with?

Mr. Papers: Listen!! I need a Jay-Z verse! And I need Rihanna on the hook

It’s been 20 years since Hip-Hop lost an icon.

The Notorious B.I.G. was more than Brooklyn’s son, he was one of Hip-Hop’s reigning kings who was known for dominating any track he touched. Although his tenure was cut short on March 9, 1997, Biggie’s two before death album releases and one posthumous produced a slew of hits that can rock any party today, but for every record on his album was an even hotter collaboration that shined due to his infamous “uh” adlib and story-like flow.

In his three short years in the mainstream game, Biggie managed to cause the greatest debates on who the greatest rapper of all time is, but one thing everyone will agree on is that Biggie Smalls was the illest. In celebration of the life and legacy of the Notorious B.I.G., RESPECT. has curated a list of some of Biggie’s most dope collabs, honoring one of the most “unbelievable” lyricist that ever touched the mic.

Can’t Stop! Won’t Stop!

This time around Puff Daddy and the family take us on a trip to the auction. “Auction” is the newest single off Puffy’s “MMM” album he released back in November of 2015 on his birthday. It trails the previous single and video “Blow A Check” that features French Montana and Zoey Dollar hi-jacking the Bad Boy office.

However, this go round, the Bad Boy crew gathers together in all black like the omen for the Hype Williams directed video. The 90’s inspired video has them doing their performance with a white backdrop, with Lil Kim sitting front and center. “Auction” is another video Puffy joined forces with Hype for. He has also directed the other video for the album as well (Workin.)

Puffy has been busy in the studio putting the finishing touches on the highly anticipated “No Way Out 2,” which is the sequel to his 1997 ht album. As we wait for the new studio album we’ll just anticipate the rumors of the Bad Boy crew embarking on reunion tour. Following last years BET Awards where the Bad Boy roster took the stage to celebrate 20 years in the industry. Rumors sparked that the label who formally held acts such as Faith Evans, 112, Total, and The Lox, were going to hit the road for a reunion tour with Lil Kim and new Bad Boy members as an addition. As no official dates have yet to be issued, the talk is still circulating as if the tour may lead up to the release of “No Way Out 2.“

King Los performs lyrical gymnastics on Diddy’s 1999 release, “P.E. 2000.” While some may be unfamiliar with Puffy’s original, King Los breathes new life into a record that was released before the turn of the century. It’s bars as usual, but having that level of lyricism grace the beat from Puff’s standout cut from the “Forever” album is wildly nostalgic and really refreshing. Looks like Los and Diddy will always be on good terms. “One, one, one, one.”

Throughout the creative process of concocting his latest body of work “MMM,” best believe Diddy had the camera rolling every step of the way. Throughout the documentary, you hear Puff constantly reiterating the mantra of performing at a high level over anything. “This brand right here f*cks with the best, or we do nothing!,” Puff exclaims in the opening minutes of the video. In the documentary, you see everything that characterizes him to this day; motivational monologues, Diddy-bops, and him running the floor like your favorite point guard to create “MMM.”

Machine Gun Kelly gives us “Almost” to watch, the second video off his quasi-surprise mixtape, “Fuck It.” “Almost” is a brilliantly simple concept, documenting Kells’ messages of desired acclaim and appreciation in an avant-garde manner, impeding a video within an antiquated green television set, circa 1972. MGK’s visuals never disappoint, but even more impressive is his ability to capture viewers (and listeners, obviously) with varying creative styles. Having amassed such a large body of work and youthfully remolding what it means to perform, Kells only asks a few things in return; “Let me smoke my weed in public, eat this In-N-Out Burger, sleep in until motherfu*kin’ noon, and fu*k my b*tch. That’s my perfect world.” Now is that really too much to ask?

In case you missed it, Bad Boy Entertainment recently celebrated 20 years of being one of the best labels the world has seen. At this year’s BET Awards, the world got to witness a ten minute tribute to Bad Boy where Sean “Diddy” Combs brought some of the labels best acts from Mase to 112 to Faith Evans to the Notorious Queen Bee herself, Lil Kim. While the tribute focused on the classics from Bad Boy’s reign in the 90s, we got to see some of Bad Boy’s latest success with French Montana coming out to perform his feature from the “Hot Boy (Remix)”. Now it wouldn’t be a Bad Boy tribute without paying homage to the Notorious B.I.G so the tribute took the time to give props to probably the most successful artist from Bad Boy, besides Diddy himself. Noticeably missing from the tribute were former Bad Boy artists Carl Thomas, Total and Lil Cease. However, this was one of the best moments of the night as proven by the amount of people in the audience who was on their feet and hitting the Diddy bop. Hopefully this performance will lead to a 20 year anniversary album!

Missed the moment? Watch it here
