In an industry where everyone wants to be on top, work ethic is what sets you apart. When everyone is sleep and you’re up working, those moments count the most. This type of grind and mindset is what North Carolina native, Austin Royale is about. Since the release of his last track “Stay”, Royale has has had his foot on the gas and applying nothing but pressure.

Just yesterday Royale dropped off his latest freestyle titled “White Toes”. During the track, he describes the life and everyday triumphs and struggles of an underground artist. He provides his outlook on women, the industry, and a whole lot more. Produced by Charlotte, NC native Brio, this track provides a futuristic yet druggy vibe like you’ve never seen. Austin Royale, Well$, and Frais construct sonic unrest on “Nevermind.” Having taken a sixth month hiatus, the North Carolinian rapper/producer returns with a record whose musical capacity indicates substantial growth. Enlisting the help of promising up and comer’s Well$ and Frais, coupled with rock-like, alternative-minded production from Ronny J, “Nevermind” impacts greatly; combining memorable appeal and aggressively channeled musical rage that offers insight to the grind of the late nights and shines a promising light on North Carolina’s music scene altogether. As he gears up to release PLAN/A later this year, the now LA transplant’s reinvigorated focus on the craft is evident. “Nevermind” feels innovative to say the least. While Royale, Well$, and Frais aren’t the first to dip their toes in the alternative rap pool, “Nevermind” seems to steer fully clear of genre melding, hatching what hopes to become a household and signature sound, truly displaying all three artists’ creativity and mindset. This weekend David Wept and Facecard Agency present the Death To The Normal pop-up show that will feature rappers from Carolina that have been on a crazy move lately. Not only will JK The Reaper be in the building, but also Charlotte’s Frais (who will be performing at the Smokers Club event on December 22nd along Joey Badass and Father) and Raleigh’s Austin Royale. In addition to these Carolina acts, C9’s Sdotbraddy will also be performing with some very special guests. Be sure to not miss out this Saturday, Dec.12th. Carolina vs. everybody.

The whole concert was split in half bringing out artists from Kirk Collins and Austin Royale to Key! (former member of Two-9) and Denzel Curry’s fellow labelmate, JK The Reaper. Media outlets like Smoker’s Club, The Fader, and many others were present to take notice of the range of talent that came out to perform.

Out of all the performances, the artist who really stood out was Charlotte’s very own Rashaun Hampton. As soon as he popped on stage during the day show with his song “Jesus Piece,” he literally only had to rap 2 bars [PAUSE] –a rare thing to happen in a local Charlotte-based event. The entire crowd truly embraced what Hampton had to offer.

Rashaun Hampton was considerably the breakout act at the concert and will definitely keep holding Charlotte’s attention as a rising artist out of the 704.
